I dont expect TB to intervene on any level! As for the wider community, they might get around to it once they have stopped giving their non-stop and ever so important lectures on the sins of saying the word PIG, and other such issues!
Yeah but they made a mistake here. They have denied entry to a man who is very well known in many countries, very well respected, and someone whom politicians in the UK turn to for advice. Aside from the politicians, he is also liked and respected by many high profile and 'inportant' people. There has never been any controversy around him or anything he has said. He has never said anything contentious or offensive, and if anything its some Muslims have that a problem with him bc they find him "too moderate".
I bet my life on it that the Americans will apologise for this incident and eat a mighty slice of humble pie, before asking him to return to the USA!
the more entries they deny the more they look like they're fighting terrorism preemptively. the immigration guy gotta fulfill his quota for the quarter to get his bonus and for his boss to write the report and send it to homeland security, which then gets sent to the white house and every one does a good CYA job.
It's all BS. Why grant the man a VISA a few days before his travel (the authorisation of which had to come from DC) only to then not let him into the country!? Why did they not refuse the VISA to begin with? And to keep a man his age waiting around for 6 hours in a room - thats just audacious!
Thank God the press in the UK like Dr Z. He is greatly respected and loved by non-Muslims as well as Muslims, and I think this particular incident is going to make the Americans look very stupid, especially when they are trying to encourage European countries to deny entry to those who have been denined entry to the USA.
"Badawi was given an honorary knighthood and in 2003 he was among the guests of Queen Elizabeth II". Same thing with sami al arian, the palestinian professor at Univ of South Florida, who is undergoing the first post Sep 11 trial on basis of suspicious of supporting terrorists etcc. well, he was invited at the white house by bush abt 2 or 3 times. these intelligence reports are so adhoc its scary.
