Eagles: McDougle shot during robbery attempt
Eagles defensive end Jerome McDougle was shot in the abdomen late Thursday night during a robbery attempt. The team released a statement saying, "Our understanding, as reported by the (Miami-Dade Police Department), is that Jerome is in good condition after undergoing surgery. At this time, we are still in the process of gathering the facts of his situation." ESPN.com reported that three armed robbers approached McDougle and demanded his car. He was shot once.
Head coach Andy Reid will provide an update on McDougle's condition Friday afternoon, and we'll pass along any more details. The Eagles hoped that the former first-round pick would take over the starting right defensive end job this season, but they obviously now have more pressing concerns.
