And Dorkus (Asima) is taking a team of medical students to do some volunteer work. Her team will be there for about two weeks in Muzzafarabad helping at a local hospital. A couple of MDs are also looking into the possibility of going in May or August - again, I would be happy to put you in touch.

Adeel.

APPNA has sent over 4 million in supplies and equipment, sent over 150 doctors and caseh over 1.5 million dollars. It is a good group to work with, they have contacts on the ground, have adopted a village, working with several hospitals, etc.

I would be happy to put you in touch with the contact people. While the acute need has subsided, the longer term work has only begun.

When does this group plan on going? I'm a pediatrician with experience in pediatric ER as well as general pedi....I'd like to know more....I just came back from a visit to Indian side Kashmir and went to the earthquake area there...wanted to try to go across to Pakistan but that wasn't possible from the border...interested in any medical activities in late summer or early fall there or anywhere I can send medical supply donations as I can get them here in the Texas med ctr....

Amina,

I know a resident who was there for the last one week. She went with the APPNA team - she is a med-peds resident in NY and a member of this village. Maybe she will share her experience here.

APPNA has already send several teams of doctors, as hav IMANA. Some private groups have also arranged to go on their own.

APPNA winter meeting has been canceled and replaced by a disaster relief seminar in Pindi on Dec 23, 24. That can be coupled with a relief mission.
