Awww maannn!

I just realized a missed opportunity on capitalizing on the Diwalli (Nov/1st) / Eid (Nov/4th) festivals!

I'm munching on these Diwalli Indian sweets right now.

Are you guys going to light a candle at the Kashmir Vigils?

Baba, thanks for the info but I know how to do it - lol.

The universal spiritual nature = they are human beings too, just like you and me. Let's not get too airy-fairy about it

Try to communicate the universal spiritual nature of the Kashmir region. Steer away from words like Pakistan and Muslims.

Read this article - tinyurl.com

Then read how a Jewish organization and a Sikh businessman collaborated to this; www.cjc.ca

well i've written some template letters and am getting some material together for a press release. it's a hard slog though - btw, i think we should all email channel 4 news to thank them for continuing the coverage. they're pretty much alone in still focusing on it and are keeping it alive on their own.

Don't know of any specific sites in Australia, but she can get ideas from saquake.org about specific ideas on reaching out to the government, media, corporations and community. We're really trying to focus on what people can do to help. For example, on the community side, there are vigils that are being planned for November 8th to mark the one-month anniversary.

I've been watching Geo TV quite a lot lately, can't help it, m'dad is glued to sub-continent news, and he's sick of Zee TV/Indian propaganda... he wants good old fashioned Geo TV/Pakistani propaganda! Anyway, the coverage that Geo show is more insightful, they even take camera's to Muzaffarabad, and get some people in a big circle, and the host goes around and has a big open-air debate, residents, teachers, workers, NGO-workers etc. There are even telethons and TV charity shows (UK, US, and southasia).

I didnt even know about that visit. Must remember to open a newspaper at some point this weekend. On a more serious note, that sounds like a v good idea.

I also wanted to ask you if you know of anything or a way of helping if based in Australia? My old boss wants to do something and she's an awesome person but stuck in the boonies in Oz. I think she can be relied on to raise awareness in her town though or overall at the very least. I want to make it as easy for her as possible though cos that is the key to ppl helping isnt it?

No worries. We really should try to get some leverage out of the English cricketers' visit to the hospital in Islamabad. They were all very shocked and obviously had no clue how bad the situation really was.

No offence Baba but it just doesnt look that appetising - too congealed-looking for that. But maybe the proof of the pudding is in the eating

www.thepetitionsite.com

This petition is to urge the major media outlets around the world to provide coverage for earthquake in South Asia. With 3 million homeless and more than 75,000 injured in hard to reach area, this is the biggest relief operation the modern world has ever seen but has been completely ignored in the media. With harsh winter approaching, time is running out for the survivors. Media must play its role by providing extensive coverage of this tragedy.

That's a cold fuzzy feeling.

Not like, my warm fuzzy feeling of placing a Canadian flag on top of Kashmiri mountains and distributing free poutine to the children, while chiding them to be careful not to burn themselves on the hot cheese.

I have a dream . . . I have poutine!
