Ecological Consciousness as a Muslim

Peace - wishing you all are well ...

posted this in the evolved-fish village with no action so thought i may get some over here ... lets see - here we go...

What does "Ecological Consciousness" mean to you and What does being a Muslim have to do with it??
~~~~~~~
Some believe we are in an "Ecozoic" era or epoch marked by the reintegration of human endeavors into a larger ecological consciousness.
They urge us to participate -- We are at a juncture of civilization. In a time of unparalleled corporate domination, environmental destruction and consumerism, there is a growing spirit that speaks of tolerance, compassion, interdependence and voluntary simplicity.
They say:: the confusion of our time can also offer opportunity. Only when metal is molten can a new die be cast. It is imperative that those who can add their voice and energy towards a more humane world to do so now.
The following link is titled:: RE-CONCEIVING GOD AND HUMANITY IN LIGHT OF TODAY'S ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUSNESS: A BRIEF STATEMENT by Gordon D. Kaufman -
it is a Christian perspective - i am not interested in starting a polemic Christian Muslim or _____ fill in any other religious system - i am simply sharing the statement as a way of generating a point of similarity and departure for a discussion of Ecological Consciousness from a Muslim perspective - your thoughts would be greatly appreciated
i am working on it actually i thought by posting it in here would generate some good ideas and it worked with your comments about interiority and exteriority and impurities as a whole and individually that need working regardless of the melting point analogy --
that article was only an initial find on this journey --
if you have more thoughts to share please do --
i would credit you also for bringing up the concept i am getting myself to have a written draft by the next few weeks... so thought of brainstorming it out here with other philosophers and see what comes out of the mix
i think its all about Tawhid - it all stems from there - allah-consciousness-at-all-time -- bas thats all one needs to live in harmony with the universe
wonderful conceptualization Celestine - thanks for sharing your insight - its appreciated -- i wish i had the money to do such a survey - as Muslims we have been made aware of this remember when allah gave us the 'trust' that the trees and mountains declined... it is interesting that most of the oil being extracted is in the arabian gulf region and that oil is the largest polluter ....
hey mate, id never really heard of thought of this issue - what i understand by what you wrote and a quick look through that article was that beforehand religion atught us to deal with issues that affected us massively like sin and immorality - things that effected us internally but now we ned to be more aware of the externals. how our actions could put an end to us externally as upposed to eating us from inside.
im sure theres a massiuve correllation (if anyone could possibly carry out the survey) between level of immorality in countries and the decline in ecological awareness. lets ask a random 1000 people in the stateswaht if they've ever heard of the ozone layer and see how many answer affirmatively.
low count id say.
interesting that you use the molten metal analogy and casting a new die as the nascent stage fo something potentially better than what we have today. the word ramadhan means to burn at an intense temperature, an intense heat - the heat at which the impurities of a metal melt away to leave something raw, pure and true.
my point: so what if we're at a melting po(in)t in time, we're still ravaged with impurities as a whole and we need to work on that individually.
