go venezuela go. I was rooting for this fella's opponent when they ran against each other. but i'll take an arab president in Venezuela over any other president in venezuela. unless he gets into some blatantly bad things, like death squads, abuse of his people, or powerful and puntative moral police, unjust wars, secret police. so, basically unless he becomes like bush or the arab governments in the arab world.

well i was kidding. sure some arab businessmen may have been underhanded, and some arab politicians may have been crooked. But has there ever been a nation or an ethnic group without these guys? what they are doing though, is building up their community, sending their kids to colleges and universities and taking active part in the welfare and destiny of their adopted nations. Inshallah we get a Arab president (NADER IN 2008!!!) or a strong and self-aware arab business community. When that happens we'll also have a slew of bad arab business men and corrupt arab politicians. fine, it's worth it.

It is great that they did this, but where did those business men get the money? In colombia, 2 of the largest drug trafikkers are of Syrian descent!...lol I have Palestinian and Lebanese friends who grew up in San Salvador, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil and they had very bad experiences with fellow community members due to dishonest business practices, drug distribution in their neighborhoods, prostitution houses run by fellow Arabs. I don't want to think negatively but we need to clean up our communities everywhere before this comes to light by the Israelis who are now pissed at San Salvador!

brazil receintly held international talks to increase the economic ties between themselves and the arab gulf states. Venezuela was involved, but i don't know what role they played (venezuela is OPEC, but i don't think these where petro-politics talks)

can someone confirm it or no. Some weeks agod, i was in a meeting with the minister of economics of Brazil in Barcelona. this was dealing with business and international trade. He said that in Brazil, a lot of businessmen are Lebanese and that there are more Lebanese in Brazil than in Lebanon. Is it right u think? i mean i was just surprised.

This is true, that there are lots of Arabs in Latin America. Most Latin Americans I meet are much more aware of Arab culture than people in the United States. Also, have you noticed that many of their soap operas have Arab characters and storylines, and are even set in the Middle East? Anyone ever see "El Clon"? That was cool..

Israel might feel some ill will, but because this initiative is part of a private community development, it can't fault the goverment for allowing its people freedom of oppression.
