Engagement Ring - where to get a good deal? (NYC tristate)


Hey folks,

So my sister is getting married soon, inshaAllah, and she and her hubby are ready to go ring-shopping!

I was wondering if any of you knew where to get a good deal on a diamond engagement ring in the NYC tristate area? Or of someone who can hook us up?

If you go to the diamond district- make sure that you read up on everything before you buy. Fred Cuellar - The Diamond Guy and his website are an excellent resource. My best friend works in the diamond district & hooked us up with a gorgeous MashAllah 2.5 ct. Even at her cost price it was extremely expensive- It's like a brand new car on my finger Now note that it's expensive because of the quality of the stones. She doesn't do retail so she won't be of help to you. My point is that she searched for 6 months for the stones because there is alot of garbage out there and it took time to find the perfect stones. REmember that minor details like the dimensions of the stones or whether or not the stones are fluorecent affect the price. READ EVERYTHING on Fred's site. If you have any questions email me. If you're offered a price check MAKE SURE you get second opinions. They allow you to take the stones out and get them checked out. You should first decide exactly what you want and how much you want to spend- If you want email me and I'll tell you how much it should cost.

***SHE HAS PROVISIONAALLY sent me pictures of half a dozen...but they r nt GUD ENUFF....so she will keep on looking...MY engagement ring is in the process of being designed...and consists of an OPAL..AND 2 RUBYS.... (H) (H) (H)

oh man u missed me by a month...i used to work at a diamond company...couldve saved you two thirds of the price...as a note...you all are gonna get ripped off bigtime...lol sorry....your best bet would to go to diamond jewelry wholesalers...try the diamond district...and try not to get anything less then SI2 quality with H-I color...and make sure you get it certified!!!...sorry i couldnt be of more help!!...congrats to your sis :)
