Engineer's World

Engineer?s World

Am I stuck in a Reynolds world?
with no units of measurement
too many variables to choose from
the turbulence is increasing with no reason why
each problem is estimated but the end goal is undefined
are my emotions too dense, making my Reynolds too high?
the diameter of my circle of influence is too deep,
but my influence itself is not viscous enough,
making my Reynolds too high.
Is my gravitational pull not strong enough for others?
but what does that gotta do with Reynolds?
Am I creating the turbulence myself,
by running too fast?
or may be its all relative, my chaos is someone?s calmness
may be I'm too laminar, not moving fast enough.
is my Reynolds too low for you?
well I just need someone to optimize my Reynolds #
to help with my scalability issue.

Reynolds number to Mannings coeff...FUZZY LOGIC......:)

These days I am trapped between Drainage area, unpredictable precipitation (scientifically predicatble to hydrologist) Mannings coeff to come up with flows for designing my culverts and bridges.

my typical day involves mixing a big bucket of gatorade from 9-5 :) lol

well.. i worked in teh process engineering for R& D. so i designed thermal process and other processing system for Gatorade and other beverages. in consumer product world, its all about commercialization of new products. now i'm doing similar stuff for Tropicana.. but with a lot more project management.

so what keeps a civil engr busy? hey i have a project for you.. figure out the best traffic system for Cairo. i hear its rather interesting driving in Cairo.

:) i suppose Civil is real engineering.. :) i guess you can work with fluids in many fields.. whether its cement slurry or juice slurry.

to tell you the truth, I thought i'd be a civil engineer as a kid. buildt many flyovers and tunnels in sand and many little houses with those cork straws..

so what field are you in Masrey?

masrey.. didnt darcy's law come from stokes law.. i still remember being asked about stokes law on a job interview with Gatorade. it was an awkward moment.. i'm like.. aah ahh.. sure.. i was still hired.. so i guess stokes law wasnt that important for them..

thanks Celia :) ure right. omar khayam wasnt an engineer.. he was a tent maker.. but i guess wrote amazing stuff to be a tent maker.

Sometimes, we control our own reynold's. just find the vfd control of the pump.. just make sure you dont burn the motor by changing the speed too quickly..

LOOOOL Jadoogar, great poem, even Omar khayyam coul'nt put it better, then again he was'nt an engineer.

May be its the free stream where you flow thats to be blamed, Reynolds number alone is not responsibile for everything. :)
