Enterprise once again
Well even though it only went on for 4 seasons, Enterprise has started on ABC (reruns). So for those of you who still enjoy a bit of Star Trek Enterprise watch on.
Icwiz, I'll probably end up googling to remember who on earth (or elsewhere.. ooh that was bad, just try not to wince) Ezri/Erzi dax is.
Gillbhai, the King of Texas? Man. That sounds pretty bad. Yeah, good old Shatner. Now playing a deranged lawyer on Boston Legal. And no I haven't seen Smith and Hassler. Is he singing on the commercial? And if we put in our lowest bid, do we get cheap legal advice?
Its always weird to see people who have appeared on Star Trek on other shows or movies. I remember watching "Far and Away" and O' Brien in that movie as a tough boss.
Obviously there have been other instances where this (In my opinion) has gone pretty grisly. Take for instance that drama on TNT that Patrick Stewart did. A remake of King Lear in Texas called "The King of Texas".
Then there is the ubiquitous William Shatner. I mean despite appearing in dramas and plays that try to show him as something other than captain Kirk, he keeps putting these cheesy appearences in commercials. I am not sure if this commercial appears anywhere outside of Texas, but he is doing one right now for this Law firm called "Smith & Hassler", and I thought Priceline was bad. Also I would rather have Leonard Nimoy anyday over Shatner for commercials.
All the old characters' appearence in one of the Futurama episodes was really cool though.
I never did quite understand what happened at the end of that series, as I lost track.
It was good to have Dr. Bashir on track. Good old Dr. Bashir.
What was up with the lady who's now on Becker with the multiple lives? Like a physical version of Karma almost, in Symbiont (sp.?) form. She married the Klingon guy from Enterprise. Wow. (Didn't she?)
DS9 (based on whatever I remember of it, I lost track after a while) gave a breakdown of quadrant politics. The themes were socio-political, with a more in-depth look at societies' effects on each other. I always remember that whole Cardasian-Baijoran (sp.?) dynamic, with the oppressed and the oppressing societies, and then moving beyond that towards a greater understanding of common ground, moving past conflict, etc. etc.
In a way it was more complex and that's why it was probably easier to lose track of what was going on - lot of interpersonal stuff. Plus the setting of Ds9 was different. In all the other series, I think the fleets were traveling somewhere, whereas DS9 was the equivalent of the inn where everyone shows up to rest for a while before they move on.
Ok. I'm done : ) ramadan mubarak all, assalam alaikum
Never knew that. Pretty cool. I never watched DS9 and people told me that it was a pretty cool show, kind of like on the tracks of TNG but still with its own character. I was beginning to watch it on Spike, but now that I graduated and am working I hardly find time, and am too lazy to record it.
What do you guys think about DS9. Was it in keeping with the whole Star Trek line or maybe a little off track, with too much drama and not too much action.
well, that episode was hotly contested because you cant go above warp 10. At warp 10, you are everywhere in the universe at the same time. So a warp 13 engine isn't possible.
I really liked star trek for is technological "accuracy". I like Hard science sci-fi. Movies like star wars piss me off.
True, I always thought about Star Trek having hyper warp engines. I think they do talk about them in the Last episode of TNG Season 7 when the future captain Picard actually gets a ride on Riker ship and he tells his ensign to go to warp 13. That was kind of cool (I am not sure why I remember this detail).
But I always thought that with the advent of higher technologies, there would be less time devoted to the actual drama or storyline involving real issues that Star Trek always is famous for tackling especially the original series.
I liked Enterprise too. I think it really tied all the pieces togather. I mean there were these subtle hints in all the episodes that they had. You know about the Federation, about the Borg's early appearences in the quadrant. I mean I could go on. But I guess capitalism won in the end, and being one myself I think I should just take a break from trying to watch new Star Trek.

I liked Jadzia. She had like spots and stuff. That alone made her cool.

Take care all ; )
Sisko knew Dax before Jadzia in Curzon Dax, his old mentor.
Thats why he would call Jadzia "Old man"
Later Jadzia dies and the dax symbiot goes to Ezri, who then becomes Erzi Dax

I'm definitely not on track : )

Tangential. Take care : )
The whole Dominion war saga was, in my opinion, quite incredible. There was a lot of drama and epicness to it.

What do you guys think.
Everything looks more advance since the computer technology envisioned in the 60s for the future was surpassed within a few decades.
It would have been better if they created a Far future show.
