Hmm. Akkas' words have given me much food for thought. He's right. I take back my vote, I wasn't really taking any of this seriously. To be honest, I still don't. just a buncha kids in the playground. We threw worse insults at each other when we were 10! It's all just so meaningless! But... people choose their own responses. So if you choose to be deeply offended, that is your prerogative and I won't argue that you shouldn't be. Be offended. That is your right. I choose to be profoundly bored by the whole thing and go and read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince instead. Which is great! I'm at the bit where Harry joins the Slug Club...

I completely agree with you. Actually, I want to thank you. This journal has given me something to think about. I joined Naseeb ages ago because a friend pestered me into it. I never really used Naseeb or commented until I joined this village. After that, I've started looking at different parts of the website (vibes, peoples journals, comments, villages, etc) and my general perception is that it's a very strange place to make friends. Even though I've met some nice people, they are just the wonderful exception. Naseeb seems to be a popularity contest. And the b*tching that seems to go on is phenomenal. People seem to be judgmental about one another. My own journal article on gay muslims, for example, elicited some horrific emails. People don't seem to understand that they are dealing with people who have feelings. So, Nussie, I'm truly sorry that I insulted you earlier.

Anyway, the long and short of it is this. I am going to terminate my Naseeb account. I have met the people I would like to get to know and they have my number and email address. Everyone else, I wish you good luck with everything you do. May your dreams (in the real world) come true.

Okay... I've read everyone's comments and it seems things have got out of hand...

The fact is that there a people sitting behind a screen - myself included which Khalid will point out that is because I have no 'job' and no 'brain' and these people are from various backgrounds and have had all kinds of experiences in life...

It's different when we are out with our mates... and we are all on the same wavelength etc and we say things to each others faces... Missy and I 'cuss' each other all the time, as mates we have that understanding... but if new people came into the group than we would get to know them first....

My point is that this is not 'face to face' so isnt it a cowardly way of attacking/offending other people... without having full knowledge of their backgrounds...

Then there are nearly 200 people on this village... what the hell are they going to think when they read what is going....? That we are all a bunch of animals in a zoo.... or that we put up with insults... because it is 'cool'... they will probably even think....

Or there might be an upcoming naseeb event where someone meets on of us and they are thinking in the back of their head "that name rings a bell, she is the one that gets accused on Londoncrew of sleeping around...I might be in a with a chance!!!

Some people may use naseeb to get away from the abuse they may suffer in real life... everyone has a different story and everyone deserves respect...

Talking about the woman who suffered 'domestic violence' at the hands of her abusive husband for many years, two little words like 'fuck off' might be enough to send her over the edge.... she may never trust the internet or a man again...


That's the main point I am making..... that we dont know what goes in peoples homes and lives so please please be considerate.... Joking with your mates is fine and we can do that when we are out socialising etc...

I am really sorry that my journal has turned into a big brother contest....I love being part of Londoncrew its like our own little community and we should show love and respect to one another...

Nush -- I apologise for calling you a snob. I have only your comments on the JEs to go by. Clearly, you don't like strangers to judge you -- but as a journalist you should know that once you put your words "out there", that's exactly what they'll do.

Emma_K -- My original comment was exactly about that. It's like a cruder version of big brother (if that is possible). It's as though certain members have the right to incite others to vote people out. Is that right? (I'm glad the comment made you laugh and sorry I won't be at the sheesha thing this Saturday.)

Missy -- Please don't give in to this. You are the moderator of this village and who stays and who goes should be YOUR decision.

Khalid21 -- Have you no limits? Don't you know when to stop? And for your information, I was not defending you per se. I was defending a principle (which I've just outlined to Missy and Emma above). I think you're an idiot and a loud mouth. I'm sure everyone else can come up with a word or too.

This is for those who might think I actually agree with what K21 said -- Whereas I can defend a principle I believe in, as I have outlined above, I completely and without reservation disassociate myself from what he said to Nussie. Although I found her tactics regrettable and disproportionate, they were not without justification. It is important to keep a level head and to apologise when things get out of hand. I apologised to Liya for calling her a muppet and a cow. It goes to show how ungracious certain people can be; she still hasn't accepted my apology.
