Cleary translation:

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

All praise belongs to God,
Lord of all worlds,

the Compassionate, the Merciful,

Ruler of Judgment Day.

It is You that we worship,
and to You we appeal for help.

Show us the straight way,

the way of those You have graced,
not of those on whom is Your wrath,
nor of those who wander astray.

Yes. It is called "The Holy Qur'an with English Translation". The publishing co. is "Ilmi Nesriyat" out of Istanbul and is translated by Ali Ozek, Nureddin Uzunoglu, Tevfik Rustu Topuzoglu, and Mehmet Maksutoglu. It is proofread by Sheikh Abdulhakim Winter (Abdalhakim Murad). Mash'Allah it is really good, and while it does not offer lots of commentary, the language is eloquent yet easy to read. From what I have been told it is one of the best modern translations available. Here is a link where you can find one (toward the bottom of the page; it is in green): www.alhambraproductions.com There is a blue one is from the same translators, but it is bigger with more commentary. Insh'Allah this has been beneficial. If you have any more questions, ask away.

do you have more info on the turkish translation - title, translator, etc.?

There is a Turkish translation that is really great too. That Noble Qur'an though...I remember when I first became Muslim, a brother warned me to stay away from it. Alhamdulillah. That is very good advice.

yeah, I would've found that parenthesis stuff downright offensive.

Other translations I really like: Nikayin, Qara'i and Irving. Nikayin is a poetic English translation, no Arabic included in the text. Qara'i is a new side-by-side Arabic/English that carefully matches the English and Arabic in a way that you can easily see which word is which word and learn the Qur'anic Arabic. Irving is an American English translation, without all the Thee's and Thous and I recommend that one for non-Muslims if you can find it without the Arabic. I think Yusuf Ali is also good for non-Muslims, and Pickthall, too, if they can stand the older formal English style.

For converts, I recommend having multiple translations for comparison to help us grasp the meaning, and tafsir (explanations/commentary) from good sources. Light of the Holy Qur'an is my personal favorite.

Yeah, I totally agree. Isn't Khan the translator of the "Noble" Qur'an. That is the Wahhabi reference if I am not mistaken. Those parenthesis are something else.

I noticed, at least for the first sura, a whole lot of "gloss," or items in parenthesis. That's basically a type of interpretation/assumption/commentar y. I'd never hand that Quran to a non-Muslim, especially in light of the gloss in the Khan translation of the last ayat. If I had receieved that Quran when I was a non-Muslim, I'd have given it right BACK.
