Excellence in flight
Assalamu 3alaikum to all,
Jazakum Allahu khairan for this Village, wallahi it's an awesome thing to know about fellow shabaab that share the flight bug.
The opening statements by the village founder are truly excellent, masha' Allah. There's absolutely nothing in this world that comes close to the exhiliration of aerobatics on a beautiful day. Also, with all the possible achievements in life, few can compare in jubilation to a PERFECT landing - the sort that are so soft, you can feel the wheels slowly coming into contact with the ground and scrubbing against the asphalt (or grass) while they slowly come to speed.
I'd like to say that most of my landings are like that, bas alhamdulillah, most of them are just a touch firmer.
I'm not familiar with the background of most people here, but personally, my entire life orbits around the concept of airplanes. I'm working on my PhD in aerospace engineering. I build, design, fly, and compete remote controlled airplanes. I'm a private pilot and insha' Allah working towards an instrument rating and eventually a CFI license.
So alhamdulillah, I've had a lot of fun so far with airplanes and insha' Allah will continue with all the goodness. Just a final comment - if any of you are in the Reno, NV area and get a chance to get checked out on a 172 at Reno Flying Service, you MUST plan a flight over Lake Tahoe. I have some pictures from our flight there in January that wallahi are the most gorgeous you can think of :-).
Also, if anyone is near Gainesville, FL (where I live and study). Perhaps we can plan a local flight and enjoy some of the coming spring days.

joojoo- I am sure flying is very enjoyable, i thought it was very exciting till 9/11.
I think you will find that the excellent visibility of a small plane helps ease some inhibitions about flying. You can literally see around you in every direction, since you're no more than 3 feet from the front, left, right, and aft windows. Some airplanes even add windows on the roof of the cabin and on the floor. Once you see everything around you, you can appreciate just how far you are away from trees, buildings, cars, and other airplanes. As long as you trust your pilot, flying is really a very relaxing experience. Of course, inclement weather and an excitable pilot can really make things interesting.
To be sure though, aerobatics is a lot less relaxing and a lot more towards the passionate adrenaline overload. There is nothing soothing about a 5G pullup at the bottom of a loop. But still, it puts you on a cloud that stays with you for months.
