Fasting in Ramadan

Our blessed visitor Ramadan is approaching. As with all guests, we must treat it with respect and dignity.

O You who believe: fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may guard against evil. (2:183)

The Prophet (SAW) has on several occasions emphasized the efficacy of fast and has explained that to be hungry and thirsty without realizing the spiritul significance of fasting is a futile act.

Abu Huraira (RA) reports that the Messenger of Allah (SWT) said: When the month of Ramadan sets in, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained. (Agreed upon)

It is reported on the authority of Ibn Abbas (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SWT) was the most generous in Ramadan when Gibraeel met him and he met him in every month of Ramadan and read with him the Quran; so the Prophet (SAW) was more generous in the doing of good than the wind which is sent forth. (Bukhari)

May Allah (SWT) allow us to fully benefit from this month and accept our fasting and prayers. Ameen
