Favorite Episodes

Hello follow Muslim Trekkies and Trekkers, I just found the village today and am very excited to find some Muslim who share this geeky interest of mine :). So what are your favorite episodes of all ST shows? please make a list if you care with the topic of the show since not all of us memorize the titles of all episodes. for me the best shows in STTNG are:

1- The of Spring: the episode in which Data gets a daughter, it almost made me cry.

2- Yesterday's Enterprise: the show that explained the origin of the daughter of Tasha Yar.

3- The episode with the time warp where things keep on repeated. Star Gate imitated the same concept in an episode with lots of success.

Just watched another one. "Drummer Head" would be a great re-run in these times of dubious loyalties and fickle existence.

As the Netflix queue continues for TNG, I just watched "The defector" episode. The episode where a Romulan commander defects to the Federation only to find out that it was all a trap. The reason I loved that episode was that it reminded me why Patrick Stewart was my favorite capitain. The ease with which he would put out shaksperean quotes as well as putting his dialogues with his expressions his ebb and flow of facial expressions was absolutely perfect. I think his extensive theatre experience gave him an edge where he would exude this "presence" (there is no other way to describe it) in different episodes.
Great episodes, where in the end when Enterprise is surrounded by two Romulan ships and is about to be attacked Picard gives the command and four Klignon Birds of Prey uncloak. Ah the drama.

Picard and Q. How on earth would that conversation go?

"I know everything, am a higher being - according to the script-writers - and I can do whatever I want and am pretty much bored by my existence and so create these diversions and intergalactic battles to pass the time..

But picard... ever since I saw that bald head of yours reflecting the light that travels through the cosmos, the glint of your eyes as you recite shakespeare at odd intervals while staring at your architectural models of unsafe buildings bound to fail the safety codes...

I have been.... as close to being in love as someone who is totally better than you -- like by a long shot, you know? -- could be...."

hmm... maybe it wouldn't sound just like that, but.. that would be something.

On a lighter note, I just read an analysis of TNG in which the writer theorize that there was a love relationship between Q and Picard. I thought there was a reason to why Q kept coming back :)

The Borg were introduced as the ultimate enemy that can not be defeated but then yea they got beat up some what easily few times. Oh well, like you said, military conflicts can be entertaining for so far, after a while you get sick of the Romulans and Cardassians, but some foes are more entertaining than others, the Klingons where kinda entertaining but the Dominions came with a full set of minions to follow. The funny thing we all could see and find things from our world in these aliens and foes. To me the Bajorans where the Palestinians fighting for a home land while the Cardassians where the American Imperialist. But on personal level, the Ferengis were the Jews of the galaxy.

I don't like how they treated the Borg in Voyager. They were defeated too easily. And Janeway's character, seemed inconsistent in her moral/ethical behaviour (lets not even talk about mention EndGame). 7 was fine, but not at the expense of ignoring the rest of the cast and crew.

I've only seen maybe 2 original Trek episodes. One was where the population commited war via computer simulation and another where half the population was black on the right and white on the left and the other half was vice versa.

I've always liked episodes that are social commentaries.

I actually saw many of the original Star Trek episodes, probably it was a cutting edge in its time, but in our today standards it is really not that much. And the over acting of William Shatner did not help at all.

I still think that TNG and DS9 are the best; Voyager would have been a lot better if they got 7 earlier on.

My favourite episodes...hmm...tough choice... in no particular order

Best of both worlds
The Inner Light
Chains of Command
In the pale moonlight
and tons more

I'd rank the series as
TNG
DS9
STV/ENT

TOS i haven't seen enough to rank it faily amongst the others.

For Crosby, I think the reason she left was greed. She just though she could make it big in movies and it did not work out as she planned. And Nazneen, I disagree with you, yes there are traditional places for men and women in the family or work place, but I really do not believe a woman can be any less as the head of security. Look how great Janeway did on Voyager. Or how strong the character of Kira on DS9. The failure of Tasha Yar, in my opinion, is the short life which did not allow it to develop and make that relation with the fans.

?inner light? yea that?s one of the very good episodes of STTNG. It is actually Patrick Stewart favorite episode because it allowed him to be outside of the normal set of the Enterprise and because his son was in it as well.

They portrayed her almost as a masculine character, yeah they were putting a woman in a position where a "man" should be but it made look too masculine. I would not have thought she could have turned heads.

I wouldnt say Denise Crosby aka Tasha yar was unattractive. The reason she left the show is because she felt her character was not developing like the others. She had very minimal lines. Frequency open , frequency closed were the only lines she got to sya the most. She was really getting tired of that and when she was offered a role in a cheesy horror movie "Pet Semetary", She thought that it would be her ticket to the big screen so she left. She regretted the decision afterwards though. Her career took a real nose dive after the movie. She could only land small parts in other shows.

Well, The inner light is by far my most favorite episode. The event in that episode had such a tremendous impact on picard that it changes his entire outlook on life and his existence. From that episode onwards, Picard is a different man.
