finals predictions
might as well start if off. first, congrats to the pistons...they played like defending champs, especially with their backs to the wall. Also, the heat came out and came it a valiant effort but having your two superstars at less than 100% (significantly less in wade's case) is tough
Now, on to the finals.
if the spurs run, spurs in 5-6...if we get bogged down in half court basketball, 7. Keys to the series:
1) spurs finally getting some rest and getting healthy: we've been battered and beat down from the first two series, especially with duncan already hurting...the nice thing about the suns is that they weren't physical and we're in pretty good shape with the days off and the easier (physically) series we just finished
2) deeper bench (assuming rasho and big dog play, which they said, and also assuming the devin brown isn't able to play...if he does play 5-10 minutes a game, even larger edge to the spurs)
I mean, who do the pistons have...mcdyess, hunter and arroyo? A little campbell, though not really effective against tim.
3) Homecourt - i think that a healthy wade and this pistons team loses that game 7...assuming no injuries, if we get to game 7, we'll close it out
4) Ability to run - it was nice to see against the suns and while the pistons have some offensive balance, they dont' really have the running game we do and that we're used to defending...also, the pick and roll was killing us in rounds 2-3...pistons don't really have a finisher for the traditional pick and roll, though wallace is probably capable of getting some of the high pick and roll action off.

while nazr didn't do great while with ny, he's with the spurs now and in his only action against the pistons, coming off the bench, his line read
21 4-7 0-0 5-6 4 8 2 1 0 0 4 13
with the wallace twins
39 5-7 2-3 3-4 2 6 4 2 1 3 3 15
34 2-4 0-0 4-6 1 9 2 1 0 4 2 8
this is without duncan (well, 2 minutes of duncan)
btw, rasho/brown that game
35 6-10 0-0 1-2 2 6 1 2 0 2 2 13
31 5-11 1-5 7-8 3 5 3 2 0 0 5 18
main thing is, I wouldn't put that much emphasis on what nazr did with the knicks...as everyone knows, the knicks well...suck....
Our bench is deeper and more productive. Agree with you about the format. I prefer the other too
Personally, I think the pistons do present huge matchup problems for the spurs...i think they are one of three teams that I felt had a chance to beat the spurs at the beginning of the playoffs but I feel better with our chances because 1) we're finally starting to get healthy and 2) offensively, the suns were the best thing that could have happened to us since our inability to stop their offense led to us actually using our running game. I don't think there's another team that can run as well us, other than the nuggets and the obviously the suns and I think this will be key in this series.
I think if billups is able to post up parker and parker starts to get less aggressive driving the lane (the pattern he's shown against the sonics/nuggets), we'll be in for a tough, tough series. In the end, I don't really expect any blowouts but on 2 out of 3 nights, I think we'll be 4-6 points better and we'll end it in 6.
Ok since I cleared that up, I pick the Pistons in 6. I know the Spurs are the best team in the NBA, I just think when Detroit wants to lock down on an opponent, they'll take care of business. Remember, Detroit does NOT have to double team Duncan, they can just put either of the Wallace brothers to limit his points. Hate it or love it, Stones in 6. Holla back you fake Heat fans.
