Fun places??

Anyone know of any fun or interesting places to go in Detroit (or other parts of Michigan)? I'm pretty open to anything.

This is the motor city, so here's a couple events related to automobiles (its the reason this city even exists). The Woodward Dream cruise is in August, the worlds largest rolling car show. 1 million people show up for this thing. Or go to Waterford Hills raceway and for 10 bucks on the weekends, you can watch amateur racers go wheel to wheel. If you're lucky you see a crash or two and maybe a fire as well.

Another nice place is Stony Creek, it is between 26 & 31 Mile roads and split between Macomb and Oakland Counties. I added the website to make it easier to find. www.metroparks.com

There is CJ Barrymoores on Hall Road (M-59) at I-94. The have baseball diamonds, go-carts, golf, arcades...

If you like dancing/nightclubs Royal Oak is the place to be.

In Detroit, there is Greektown. (One of my favorite places to go) Even without the casino it is lots of fun. Of course there is Greek food, but across of the casino is Pizzapalis and a few doors down is the Astoria Bakery, which has beautiful desserts, ice cream and gourmet coffee. (The main street is Monroe.)It is easy walking distance to many downtown sights including the Ren Cen, the water front, the Spirit of Detroit... The Wayne County Sherif's Dept is also located in Greektown.

Yeah, Metro Beach is pretty cool, just don't go in the water. If you like to be near the water there is another place I like. It's called Bishop Park in Wyandotte. Take Southfield to Jefferson (the river) and turn right, it is on the left hand side. It's alot smaller than Metro, there is no enterance fee, it is very clean, tranquil and safe. There is a nice boardwalk and within walking distance there are several shops, a coffee house and an ice cream shop too.

There is beach in Detroit called Metro Beach. I personally like it as it gives you a chance to get away from the every day Detroit life and is preety relaxing. 16 mile road going east ends at Metro beach.
