Falu is quickly becoming recognized for a rare ability
to seamlessly blend her signature
contemporary/alternative rock style with a formidable
Indian classically-shaped vocal talent. Born Falguni
Shah in Bombay into a family of classically-trained
vocalists, for years Falu devoted up to sixteen hours
a day honing her singing. She was fortunate to have
studied under Kaumudi Munshi, Uday Mazumdar, and the
legendary sarangi/vocal master Ustad Sultan Khan, a
relationship that continues to nurture her creativity
and musical spirit. In 2001 Falu met up with
Indo-American band Karyshma and later with Asian
Massive leader Karsh Kale. With both of these artists
she hit the nationwide university, club and festival
circuit as a lead/featured vocalist. In 2004, Falu was
invited to perform with Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Project,
and in 2004-2005 she served as one of Carnegie Hall's
Musical Ambassadors to New York City. Recently Falu
and her band have begun to create a strong presence in
the hipster and tastemaker communities of New York
with packed and often sold-out performances at venues
such as Pianos, Mercury Lounge, CB's 313 gallery and
The Knitting Factory. For more info, visit falumusic.com.

procure a body and map out a space for the Sikh female
subject based on her own experiences and narratives.
"The Dress of a Thousand Secrets," a space or
landscape created to contain her voice, consists of
carefully sewn and glued paper envelopes with flaps
reminiscent of mountain range silhouettes. At their
outskirts lie pockets symbolic of secrets, taboos, and
personal sentiments.
Kron Vollmer declared herself a sovereign nation in
1998. She has presented 3 full-length plays about
her experiences as the exotic, war-torn, one-woman
nation of Mykronesia. She has performed all over
town: Bowery Poetry Club, University Settlement,

dances: in short, an entire culture. Kron has a
certificate in Flamenco dance from Carmen de las
Cuevas and a worthless M.A. in Comparative Literature
from Harvard University. When she's not busy paying
