haha... yar umer! if u take lahore out wot is punjab? it wud like takin london out frm england... in those days punjab was divided between different Rajput rulers... Porus ruled only the area between Chenab and Jehlum river... may be those rajputs could be called punjabi coz they lived in this area but punjabi was never their language... may be then us desis livin in england shud also be called english... so wot i mean is punjab never existed as a punjabi entity untill sikh's rule... OK if u wana stretch it a bit, lets say untill mughals... but comon man... lahore is punjab...

That was the Lahoris. They had a habit of inviting every single invader from the Huns to who knows who else and passing them onto Delhi. No wonder Delhi got shafted so many times. But the fact stands and you can see it on the conquests of the Khans. They could not take over the Sultans of Delhi. Also, Porus was a Punjabi and it was the arrow of a Multani fighter that penetrated Alexander's armour. Alexander had made a stratregic mistake where he asked half of his army to travel through the gobi desert. haha Umer! ghalib says, dil ke khush rakhnay ko ghalib yeh khayal acha hai... fact is that punjabis hardly ever resisted an external invader... Sikh Kingdom was the only govt. of punjabis in the history of punjab, and that was really first time that punjab existed as an entity... Ghangaiz khan and Alexander payed us a visit centuries before that... Besides there r different rumours in history that Mangols and Greek armies could not sustain our lovely punjabi weather which is around 50 degree celcius in summer... Moreover, I've read that Alexander actually got sun stroke which was prime reason for him to go back... not our punjabi's resistence... Fact is punjabis welcomed every invader... and in case of Alexander and Changaiz Khan, thanx to our lovely weather :)

anyways seems like the issue has been resolved. Umer is right. A few belts in pakistan do possess a wonderful warrior history. but before considering the facts that wat muslim world has adapted from others particularly before 18th century one shud keep in mind that till then it was others who adapted names terminology science and knowledge from the grand muslim empire. Examples
1. dining fork n knife invented and used by muslim prime minsiter of granada ibn - e- ammar in andlucia
2. bein a doctor the anatomy of eye that we study today was first explained by imam fakharuddin raazi in his book hadaiqulanwaar fil haqaiqulasrar chapter 23.
rem guys when we talk of muslims before 18th century we r talkin abt the biggest empire of human history.

Yep, Temujin was a Mongol but he was named Chingiz Khan ('the great/universal ruler' or something to that effect) after he had consolidated all the tribes of Mongolia.-------------------------- -But the people his army and the armies of his sons & nephews were to kill far exceeded 60,000. It was probably the first recorded genocide of people. Up to 3 million Muslims were slaughtered. First it was Khwarzam Shah's Sultanate, then the Abbasids and so on and so forth.----------------------------- ---------Now here's something that makes me immensely proud in terms of being of Pakistani origin. The region of Pakistan contains two groups of people - The Punjabis and the Pathans - who have fought four superpowers of the world (ancient and new) and defeated them time and again. The Punjabis stopped the armies of Alexander penetrating fully into India and dealt him the blow (in Multan I believe) that was to eventually kill him. They also stopped the armies of Genghis Khan entering into India. Pathans fought the British thrice and the Soviets twice. And each time, they defeated them. Pakistan Zindabad. Halwa Puri paindabad.

hmmmm....i always thought genghis was mongolain...jas, u sure he was chinese? also, what if u aint a khan...but u still luv chinese? does that mean mayb im a descendant from one of his kenyan wives? heheheeheeeee!

serious answer to the querry posted. genghis khan aint a chinese he is a mongol and his real name was tamojin. he was called Genghis khan by the people of muslim cities of turkamnistan and uzbekistaan whom he ruines. some 60 000 muslims killed and towers made by their skulls. anyways he wasnt a khan and was named changez khan as someone who brings destruction. hope that settles the issue. as far umers view is concerned well there r two types of khans available in indo pak one r from greek origin like imran khan and one from hindu origin such as shah rukh khan who aint a patthan but the cast and tribe still is khan. hope that settles the issue here

Many Khans are not true Khans...like many other *names*...remember names were adopted back in the day just for unity...hmmmm..or ppl *trying* to be something they aren't.
I actually know a guy called GENGHIS KHAN...bechara haha
