Gifts for family and friends in LIBYA

What's a good gift/gifts to take along when visiting Libya? What if you really don't know the people that well, but they are close relatives of yours. More specifically: What would you buy your mother-in-law? Father-in-law? Cousins? All I can think of are perfumes, and the stuff you can get at the Body Shop. Any and all ideas are welcome! Planning on visting this summer inshallah.

that's good to know ya bushra. I personally don't like the idea of buying it from Libya because i'm thinking of all the different things that can happen on the way back. Like what if the luggage gets lost. Or the dress becomes so wrinkly that it is impossible to fix etc. Bas before I buy it from here I just wanna get an idea of what they have over there. And ew I will never rent my wedding dress because what if it smells like b.o. CK PJ's............very intersting but I don't wanna spend too much..........it just hit me the other day how materialistic I am...sadly...and I wanna change.

i went shopping with this lady for her new bride-to-be sister in libya, and apparently all PJ's calvin klein or or dkny are a big hit. (esp. CK)

when i was in libya and my cousin was getting married, they all say its better off to get your dress outside of libya. most of the dresses i saw in windows were nastily flashy and reflective like mirrors they were so shiny. talk about blinded by the light. and my understanding was that they were way overprices, girl u can get a much better deal here for something that you know you like. and yea its common to rent them or else you'll be jipped like woah if you buy. that's my two cents.

PS-by the way, that's just an idea of what we are getting people :D.
pss- I forgot to mention, if someone got married recently you have to get them something nice because its 3aib to just bring them something for 10 dollars..........but if you were smart you would have bought a makeup bag on boxing day for like 30 dollars :P.

Old ladies: Jalabeeyat from sears, Underwear, Fabric.
Old Men: Watches in nice packaging.
Uncles: Nice buttoned up shirt and CK colognes.
Aunts: Perfume sets (like the ones at christmas or mother's day).
Teenage cousins (male): Watches, addidas cologne sets (they go crazy over that stuff).
Teenage cousins (female): trendy tops, jewelerry boxes, watches, purses etc.
Younger cousin (female): arts and crafts sets from walmart (the ones where you make your own necklace, bracelet etc.).
Younger cousins (male): water guns HAHA.
Distant Relatives: Don't buy them anything untill they invite over for dinner in Libya, and then you can rush to a store over there and buy them a sandwich maker :D.

Here are some suggestions- Mother in law: those silk robes that zip up the front, all the 3azayiz love those. Father-in-law: I'd go w/cologne (v. convenient cuz its sold on the plane on the way over :p), that never fails. As for male cousins, they love american music CDs/portable CD players/etc. For the girls I'd probably go with cute outfits if you know their sizes, if not, handbags are usually good too :) Good luck and habby shobbinggg
