Gorillas in the Mist
"When you realize the value of all life, you dwell less on what is past and concentrate on the preservation of the future." ---Dian Fossey
It's been years since I've watched Gorillas in the Mist starring Sigourney Weaver (gotta hit the video store soon). The film tells the story of Dian Fossey, an American woman who studied gorillas in Rwanda and dedicated her life to ending the decimation of the endangered apes. Check out the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International website.
Fossey was eventually murdered in Rwanda (most probably by the gorilla poachers she was fighting); her body was found in her hut and the above-mentioned quote was the final entry she left in her journal.
It takes a very special person to dedicate herself to such an important struggle. www.gorillafund.org
