Its a story of how 2 orphans struggle to survive in during world war II. To Seita and his four-year old sister, the helplessness and indifference of their countrymen is even more painful than the enemy raids. Through desperation, hunger and grief, these children's lives are as heartbreakingly fragile as their spirit and love is inspiring. It made me cry bucket loads.

so u finally watched it. i personally didnt think it was suitable for small kids because it was so sad. its a touching story.

Their aunt was so horrible. I could well imagine that happening though (the part where the aunt sells their dead mother's kimono collection to buy rice and then accuses them of eating her out of house and home!), it was very plausible.

Emms, I saw this the week before Ramzaan. I was babysitting so planned our usual 'movie night' at home with the kids and we absolutely balled our eyes out. It was so sad...

sounds great! i watched Rabbit Proof Fence last night which made me cry. I know its not animated but your VE reminded me of it...

I saw only half of this movie, couldn't bear to watch the other half as it made me too sad. I am not sure I ever will. Sigh.
