Greatest athlete...EVER?!

For anyone who's been following tennis lately, you'll know what im talking about. This guy Federer is UNSTOPPABLE.

There are very few athletes in any single sport who have dominated the game as COMPLETELY as Federer...and at 23, he's just getting started....

There's no question that athletes like jordan, gretzky, mohammad ali had THE GREATEST impact in their individual fields. But I'm going to go on a limb here, and put Federer up there....maybe even a little higher.

He's won the last 40 consecutive matches and makes the likes of Hewitt and Roddick look like pre-schoolers. But what really sets him apart from others is his unbelievable ability to win every single point, regardless of the situation. His groundstrokes hit the white line everytime and he's always hitting impossible angle shots.

I know it sounds weird, but it seems like he cut a deal with the devil or something...he's indestructible.

Alright, so what do ya say?

Is Federer the greatest athlete ever??? And if not, who would your top 5 be?

Yea no doubt Federer is a amazing athlethe, i mean this guy is just a machine and he's only 23years old, he's also a very smart player and doesnt even have a coach which amazes me cause he does all the mental preperations on his own, if he continues this roll he should be up there with the best athletes even though tennis players dont get as much recognision as they should...top5 i guess would be Jordan, Ali, Barry Sanders(even though he played a half career) and the other 2 i dont know but Pele was awesome also..

oh yes Federer is great, but I guess I have to disagrees with you here. Jahangir Khan www.squashtalk.com , is in my opinion the greatest athlete ever lived. I guess most of us never heard of him, but he was the greatest squash player ever lives, who wins the British Open 10 consecutive years, US masters Open for 8 consecutive years. He wins his first World championship at the age of 17 and later wins his first British Open at the age of 18 and then wins 686 consecutive games before he was defeated by Ross Norman of New Zealand. Then Jahangir Khan had another wining streak of 487 games.

BBC TV made a historic documentary movie about him, "KING KHAN" . Its all amazing because he 2 surgeries of hernia and was not suppose to walk without crutches and legs braces for the rest of his life.

Federer has such amazing classic tennis strokes! He reminds me of a young Edberg his fellow swiss compatriot. But Federer unlike Edberg is not a serve and volleyer but more of a baseline player. He has the composure and grace of Edberg as well (I was a great fan even got his autograph!) It will be great to see where his career goes. As for other athletics greats

Mohammad Ali, Martina Navatrolovia (she still playing mixed doubles!) Billy Jean King, Sachin Tendulkar, and of course Anna Kournakova (kidding!!! LOL)

Hey Umar!! I was in Centre court last summer at Wimbledon and I watched him play. He doesn't look like he can be that dominating but he really is. Its unbelievable the gap that there is between the number one position, and then 2nd and 3rd. I mean he beat Andy and Layton in straigth sets!!! And he is such a typical Swiss gentleman....which makes him even more likeable! I would say he is definitely the top male we have ever seen in tennis.....I mean he is easily going to break all of Pete Sampras's records who was considered the 'best' before Federer. I don't know....Bjon Borg before him was spectacular also so I don't know about dubbing him the 'greatest'. I would definitely say Pele as one of the greatest, as well as Muhammad Ali....oh and definitely Wayne Gretzky..he is sheer brilliance on ice, and he is Canadian! :)
