Hair Removal
I have suffered for many years because of the various time-consuming methods of hair removal that I have had to endure, from threading to waxing to shaving. Oddly enough, shaving has been my mortal enemy for many years, because I often cut myself shaving, plus I never get a "smooth shave." Even right after I shave my legs, it still looks like I have stubble. What are the secrets of getting a smooth shave when shaving your legs? Also, has anyone ever had to remove hair from the stomach, and if so, what procedure did you use? I tried shaving, and it was a big mistake, because of the way that the hair grew back: rapidly and very thick, and with stubble! If anyone can provide me with insight, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

waxing and plucking can lead to ingrown hairs and even scarring... and shaving leads to stubble and gets rid of the downy hair too (so it looks kinda odd)
i highly recommend electrolysis..it is the best way to permanently get rid of those stubborn, unsightly hairs on a tummy... it is expensive but well worth it since it is PERMANENT.. the only hair removal that can claim that... best is that it can target only the problem hairs and not affect the fine downy hair on the rest of the tummy..
caveat: it is *very* important to get the right person to do the electrolysis..that person should be licensed in it..and should have a clean, sterile environment.. this is not practiced by MDs (physicians)..so you have to be careful to find the right person..but with the right person..it can be a very good experience..
it is painful (like a bee sting) since it involves sending a directed, small current into the hair shaft that destroys the hair follicle, and prevents hair from growing there again (it can take 1-3 treatments to achieve that though)...but you can apply a local anesthetic cream (like "emla") that your doctor can prescribe for you... you have to apply it 30-90 minutes in advance and keep it under an occlusive dressing (you can also get this from your doctor).. if properly applied, it works like a charm and you won't feel a thing during electrolysis..
DO NOT try to buy an "at home" electrolysis kit.. the current is not strong enough to be effective..and you may really hurt yourself..
do a google search on electrolysis.. or check out electrology.com for the national association homepage...
if you decide to do this..remember..be willing to pay more for a qualified, experienced person..and be patient..it will take months..
as for laser...that is all the rage these days..but it is also fairly expensive.. is not suitable darker skin (from what my dermatologist sister has explained to me..the way laser works it is targets the pigment in the hair..but if there is also a lot of pigment in the skin..it can damage the skin as well..that is why laser is best suited to those with dark hair and fair skin)..and it isn't permament.. i can't claim to be an expert though...
