The layout like paragraphs are very important... to make it easy on the eye. Presentation is a must. We must create a long version journal just like how YOU would like to read as an 'audience'.

Guys, I think it can be tough to summarize the WHOLE book into a page. Such points and examples. On the other hand I hope to publish a book myself one day... be it about a book or not, there are such varieties... so everyone has diff intention when it comes to creating journals. I guess for you guys its time - passing. Beside that most who knows me make use of time to read my stuff ;) LOL.... I guess so far only 3 ppl are in!

Yeah i was talkin about the loosely used version of ADD, not the medically treated one. I don't know anything at all about the medical stuff on it. Altho, I have a deep distrust of medical diagnoses of "psychological issues." There's a huge conflict of belief between the psychoanalysts and our good ol' doctors/psychiatrists. But that's only a side issue here.

I would have to say short attention span...I prefer the short and sweet answers.

adhd is not a matter of practice...trust me on this one. i have kids i treat who are 3 and 4 that have been dxed...they don't really have time to have practiced this. also, if you look at PET/SPect data, there are different patterns in children with ADHD vs the normal population. The sudden "increase" is probably due more to greater awareness and early diagnosis than anything else.................Now, if we're just talking about being able to train yourself to read more carefully or concentrate, i agree. We're definitely a soundbite nation. Just look at sports articles from the 50's...rich prose and long descriptions. No one would read them now.

Other than the various attention issues, there have been various studies done with respect to how people approach material online. Reading lengthier pieces online is more difficult, and often people will print out that material and then read it (for whatever reason, that seems easier for them).

It's alright, more people will read your journal inshaAllah. :)) No worries:))

I think ADD is largely a matter of practice. If we practice concentration, we can concentrate for a long time on anything. But if we practice paying attention only in short periods, we develop ADD.

There are so many things to read, but so little time. So, I have a no-scroll policy. I make sure not to write anything that people have to scroll for, and I don't read anything I have to scroll for. While teaching english/writing to undergrads, I realized that almost every message can be summarized quite well within a page. Hence the no-scroll policy.

Actually ADD is very common these days..I think most of us here have ADD...I think I do ;) Pretty short attention span here :) I seriously cant read things that are super duper long..I skip those. Most of the time I lose interest when its too long..maybe I am worried about time..I dont know!!
