HELP!!!

Does anyone know a vet on naseeb. I need serious advice! My cat burnt its tail. The vet said either it got caught in a car motor or someone lit its tail on fire. One vet said it needs to be amputated. And the surgery will cost around $500-$800. I asked them what if I can't afford it?? She said... well it will be a long healing process and that I'd have to clean it up 3 times a day with saline water (I don't mind. I will do that). It will end up looking like a rat's tail. that's fine. She said if I can't do that I will have to put it to sleep. NO WAY!!! I couldn't hold my tears in when she said that. Right now my cat is in the hospital they sedated it and cleaned it up all the dead tissue etc etc.

My question is if I clean it three times a day and give it all its medications... would that be enough?? Or do I have to get it amputated??

Please email me if you are a vet I have a deal for you.

Thanks EB. I decided it would be best if they get it amputated. It's just too much to see him suffer.

InshAllah your cat won't have to be put to sleep. That sounds rather drastic. I sometimes think vets and drs. don't know what they say or the affect it can have on someone. Be strong and have faith!

Found a couple of vets on naseeb, don't know how good they are but you can try to get in touch with them. Their naseeb i.d's are -Ayiz, Asmashah, Lemur.

They could put a cone on the tail just so the cat doesnt touch the wound.

Personally, ive seen this happen to a human being once and i know conditions vary too. The meds are prob antibiotics and painkillers... and its not alwys true that u can clean it well. sometimes infection will set it. not sure if saline is enough(its salt water, too basic, but definitely safe and cheap). Might want to try some cholohexidine on instead. I know this works for humans :) not sure if it works on cats...tough some of the medications are similar...but clearly different dosage... say like amoxycillin etc..

I'd say try looking for a vet naseeb village or even ask the medical professional villagers. You might also look on the animalplanet channel's website to see if there is anything like WebMD for cats. If you're willing to take your cat to another vet for a second opinion, the visit might not cost that much, as long as they don't do any work on her tail. I guess what they're saying is that the risk of infection is high, so you should keep her indoors, and take extra care to have her declawed (so she doesn't send YOU to the hospital when you try to clean her tail!). It might even be better to have someone else hold her from the scruff on her neck while you clean her tail, so she doesn't BITE you (animals are not 100% people!). May God have mercy on your pet and you. Did they tell you how to protect her tail from her own licking and scratching? Maybe they can put on a cardboard skirt like they do for animals with head injuries... ask the vet.
