that's just insane! people expand 'vertically' when they can't do so 'horizontally'! UAE is still mostly empty, people living on the coasts. Allah will punish these fools who are wasting the ummah's money on these pointless, useless projects while many are in dire need for these money to better their lives!

Listen, I have nothing against development and advancement, and I would be the first to cheer when an Arab country has built the tallest building in whole world. And theres nothing wrong when 20 yrs ago USA had nothing and now they have a lot. I have no problem with the UAE showing such extravagance since they?re are already creating plenty of jobs, broadening capital formation, attracting foreign investors and most importantly creating jobs and opportunities for other Arab nationals. Dubai is very smart. Since it is running out of oil, it?s seeking other sources of wealth such as ?foreign capital? and ?knowhow? and theyrre doing a damn good job at it. If on the otherhand a country like Morocco, Egypt or even Saudi Arabia, where women?s rights are beyond basic, democracy is inexistent, poverty is rampant and the young are aimless, THEN id have a problem with such nations putting money in the tallest building in the world.

oh, and btw, if you ever flew above dubai you would see something like sandboxes with stuff inside them!!! it's a desert, for goodness sake!

i tell you, they're trying to prove something they don't have and can never have...it's like they do stuff that doesn't match how they live...pleeeeease! no offense to anyone here if you are from that region, but sometimes i feel they act in a very...well, let's say irrational rather than saying another word!!! ta3teer!
