How often do you CHANGE your mind?

Actions that have become habits (repeated actions, over and over, without thought) are very likely to be or become addictions. An addiction is when a person cannot stop doing a destructive behaviour even when they know that it's destructive. It's a compulsion to do it, and an obsession with thinking about it. Addictions are more powerful than individuals. It's not a lack of morals. It is not simple laziness. It is disease in the emotions, the mind and the spirit.

Sure change may be potential to grow but, it could also mean change of scenery too. Like I said addiction is a disease in the emotions, the mind and the spirit.

doesn't change mean the potential to grow?

Change of mind- I do it, often, but need data or experience to sort of bring it on or develop what's in the mind.

Change of behavior- difficult. Right now I'm working on not smoking and better manners. The smoking is going ok so far (five weeks now?) and the manners thing, well it IS only day one!!!

I was (kinda still am) known to be a hard headed person. Thus was the president of a student political party of my campus (pakistan). Amina you said it right "addictions are stronger than individuals". I was addicted to that streak. I still dont change my mind that often, but with years of work, i have started to listen. Eventually, i think, i would be a stronger individual than my addiction.

why does it seem like that a person only gets addicted to "immoral" or bad things, and those addictions/habits are so difficult to break..why does it seem like that good things, no matter how often you do it does not seem to become a habit? 30 days of fasting and we are eating like anyone on day of Eid, 5 prayers a day, but still so difficult to wake up for Fajr, etc

I don't know which way is forward or backward at this point. All I know is my gut feel that it makes sense :

Interesting way on how you look at it - reverse psychology maybe?

Okay . . . your clarification just clicked. It almost seemed circular like the whirling dervishes. Brings a new meaning to change. I need a therapist.

A mind that thinks one way can't automatically think another.

When things become so entrenched in our experience that it is difficult to avoid them, and they are causing problems, we need to stop doing them. But it isn't all that easy. We need to change our mind about that behaviour or experience. I may see that something isn't all that good for me, but I won't stop unless it's better for me to stop than it is to continue. That doesn't always just happen to us. What we really need to do is change our thinking about it. And to change our thinking about something, we need to change our mind.

Is an addiction aka habit? Addiction has negative connotations. So what is the relationship of Changing one's mind with addictions? Great last line.
