Human Behaviour - Bjork
"Human Behaviour"
As humans we are so complex, there is so much to understand and yet so little that can be understood. Well, that's how I feel sometimes... It's so true what Bjork says... there is no 'map' or 'guide' to human behaviour, it's all down to personal and collective experience and individual choices or for want of a better phrase 'just the way we are'. Sometimes we can try to hard too try to understand ourselves and others when what we should admit is we just don't know why we behave in certain ways sometimes and at the end of the day, does it really matter anyway? Well, yes, obviously if we're behaving in such a way that could harm or hinder others... And yet, we still get caught in the exchange. We're social creatures, who sometimes have antisocial behaviour so how can we not (get caught in the exchange)?
I love the way Bjork has worded this song, as a detached outsider, who is studying from afar and has no involvement, she doesn't say 'we humans', she doesnt get involved in her observations. Spoken like a true anthropologist. Guess we can all learn from taking a step back sometimes...

Human Behaviour by Bjork
If you ever get close to a human
and human behaviour
be ready to get confused
there's definitely no logic
to human behaviour
but yet so irresistible
there is no map
to human behaviour
they're terribly moody
then all of a sudden turn happy
but, oh, to get involved in the exchange
of human emotions is ever so satisfying
there's no map and
a compass
wouldn't help at all
