What do you call a person who was born in America but was brought up in Pakistan? I know for a fact that when I moved back to the US I was fresh off the boat. And I guess there were moments in my childhood where I was confused by virtue of my birthplace, even if I was too young to recognize it as confusion.
To be perfectly honest, I still get confused when someone asks me where I am from. There have been 4 migrations in the past 3 generations of my family. I'm from here. And there. And everywhere.
I like to call myself a child of the universe, mingling my Urdu and English and Punjabi, while ordering a taco con pollo y queso with a side of sushi and a tall glass of lassi, peray aali.
Any thoughts?

Now having sushi and lassi together..thats just gross. Unless you are having sushi and green tea, I will take that ;)
