HYPNOTHERAPY

What do you think of hypnotherapy/hypnoanalysis?

People with a higher IQ are usually more easily hypnotized. Hypnosis is a common state of mind that we experience every day. Its all about relaxing in the alpha state...or deeper if you're lucky... ;)

Do you think it is a useful scientific tool which can aid in losing weight and stop smoking etc?

Or people who bark like a dog to someone's command under hypnosis are really perpetuating a big fat sham?!

What does anyone think? experienced? read? seen?

It seems like only a few people can preform hypnotherapy to it's possibilities. It can be used negatively, also. So, make sure the person knows what they are doing and that you fully trust them.

Seriously, I used it to outlast wanting an epidural (at least until the crazy woman down the hall was screaming and it scared me too much). I was doing fine; don't get me wrong it hurt BAD. Ha ha! But I was calm and relaxed as could be anyway. The nurses were surprised at how calm I was about the ordeal. It was the hypnotherapy.

i haven't seen or experienced it personally, but i do have professors who claim to know how to work it.. that said, i don't believe hypnotism has much to do with iq, it's just a hieghtened state of suggestibility..

Has anyone tried hypnotherapy for anything?
