I do not love my country

I do not love my country

Its abstract lustre is beyond my grasp

but i shall give my life

for two or three rivers in it

for some barren mountains

and a few wrinkled faces "

(I don't know where i read it and who wrote it and it's not the proper poem , it's just my own concoction of whatever i remembered. Please let me know if you know this poem or the poet.)

Happy Independence Day

HIGH TREASON
by Jose Emilio Pacheco
(Mexican poet)

I do not love my country. Its abstract splendor
is beyond my grasp.
But (although it sounds bad) I would give my life
for ten places in it, for certain people,
seaports, pinewoods, fortresses,
a run-down city, gray, grotesque,
various figures from its history,
mountains
(and three or four rivers).

This is the original version. Thanks to Labs who dug it out for me. I love the title!
