I don't understand men, HELP!!!
I was introduced to a guy Joe through Jack that I met on Naseeb. So Joe emailed me and we chatted online for an hour and next thing we did was talk on the phone. Our conversation lasted for 6 hours and it just felt great to be able to connect to someone like that. Well Joe is also Aga Khani like me and most of us in the community know each other. His family is from the same area as my father?s family in Pakistan and I know his aunts who live in the same area as my parents down in Florida. So when we were talking, it was surprising how our families know each other. We also talked about what kind of music and food we like and it seemed like we had different taste, but for me all that is secondary. We also talked about how he goes to the mosque regularly and I don?t go as often as I would like to, which would change after I settle down. We also talked about what kind of future partner we want to see ourselves with. He mentioned a few times how great it is that we have connected with each other and were able to talk for a real long time on the phone. I also did mention to him that I want my parents to know that I met Joe and how my family knows them. Mind you, my parents are pretty open minded people and would be happy for me that I made a friend. They wouldn?t think more than that. So I did explain that to Joe and he seemed to be ok with it. Later in our conversation, we brought up our past relationships and he didn?t really go in details of it. I also asked him, if he is looking to get married or looking for a mate and he said, ?yes and that is why I am talking to you.? I told him to be honest with me, no harm in that and I wouldn?t judge him for it. So he told me that he was married once and the marriage only lasted for 2 years and that he was devastated. His divorced was finalized this past December. He did bring up the differences him and his ex wife had. Then he asked me if I would be okay with a guy being divorced and I said, I have no problem with that. Things happen and that?s life. Anyways, he kept saying how nice I sound and he really likes my voice. So then the next morning when he woke up, he called me. He called to say hello and see how I am doing and what my plans were for the day. I mentioned to him that I told my parents about him and that they know his family and stuff. So he was pretty ok with that. Then he mentioned to me again that he is really glad that we hit it off. So after all that, I really thought something good was going to come out of this, until I got a letter from him an hour later saying:
It was really nice talking to you last night. I think you're a very nice person. In the spirit of being upfront and honest, after reflecting on our conversation, I see us as just being friends. We do have differences in lifestyle and taste. Also, I need to focus on business school and job search, and I think I need more time to get over my past relationship. I hope you understand. Good luck with your nursing degree.
After getting that email, I was totally thrown off. I just didn?t understand what happened or where I went wrong. I called him to talk to him about it and he didn?t pick up his phone. I even left him a message and never got a phone call back from him. So I talked to Jack my friend on Naseeb about it and he said that Joe had called him in the afternoon to tell him that things went well and that he enjoyed talking to me.
Anyways, now the issue is what am I suppose to think after reading that email? Is it me, or is it him? I really want some answers. I really thought we hit it off and it was really fun talking to him.
Any ideas what I should do?

What catches my eye and attention is the fact that nowhere do you mention that you met him or even exchanged pictures.
How do you know whether you were going to be attracted to him? Also very important him to you?
Why are u feeling dumped or rejected when you didn?t go out and meet him or got emotionally or physically involved.
as we say here back home meeti pao jeeye jao - zindagi wadi sooni hai/
Staj u will come across many people with whom u can spend incredible few hours with but they are like the much clich?d 2 ships in the nite. They sail at dawn
He was probably just not sure about the way he was feeling. You made him feel good during the conversation but maybe he was not ready for the intensity that can sometimes come into these conversations.
Give him some time to think things over and dont call or message him anymore. He has your numbers and will get in touch when he wants. If he does not - his loss.
as for why they behave this way - girl u have asked a question that women have been asking since the time of creation - men behave in a way that?s only understood by themselves - sometimes even another man cant understand.
Yes you are all right, I am glad that I did find out now then later. After him saying to my friend that I dont listen to his kind of music or eat what he likes to eat or I dont pray as much as he does and I dont see myself moving to Texas right now really gave me a good idea that this guy can be petty.
The conversation we had was great and I am glad that I found out now that he isnt interested then later on. It just felt good to be introduced to someone who has a connection to my family in some way. But its all good...things always happen for a good reason.
As far as playing games, I think men and women both do it all the time. Mainly men and its very frustrating. I have noticed that I dont give too much importance to a guy, he tend to come after more. If I go after a guy too much and show him any interest, he runs away, and that has happened to mostly all the women. Its very true, men like to play games and they like to go after things they cant get. Its a sick thrill but its true. All the men that I have ever talked to, including my brothers and my male cousins, they have told me that I, as the girl should play hard to get and not always be available for the guy or he will run.
Men who say they dont play games or dont like playing games are really kidding themselves. Please recheck yourself before saying something like that ;)

Thank you, muchos gracias...hehehehe
In this case, I have to say, as many jerk stories I have heard, this guy was not a jerk. He let you know VERY quickly, thanks but no thanks.
We have all been on both sides of this equation. Let's not always play the victim
games, easy women, staying power, more games, begging, handing yourself on a silver platter, mind games, more mind games, contradictions....JESUS! :-
ufff...I cant keep up. *:
I still wonder....why cant it just be simple.
Are there really no men and women who are just simple about the whole thing.
Boy mets Girl
Girl meets Boy
Boy likes Girl
Girl likes Boy
Bata Bing Bata Boom
take it easy, date, get acquainted, get close, have fun, and let fate take care of the rest. (A)
however, i still think 'but i dont think any guy will turn down a girl (whos interested in ) handed to him on a platter .. '
is wrong, guys do run a mile from 'easy' women (and vice versa) if they're looking for someone with a bit more staying power
and 'the girls who like to play games and make guys beg and work for it.. ... actually one of the dating no-no's for a guy pursuing a woman .. and it holds true more for guys than for gals' also contradicts what you said here:
easy girl scenarios 'can be thwarted if a gal wants to play mind games and indicate that "shes not easy" '
this implies that there's an audience for this which means it's not a blanket dating no-no
*) if a gal is genuinely interested, she will show more interest and interact more,
*) if a gal is also looking for a roll in the hay, she will become intimate sooner than expected,
there are two scenarios here. Both of which can be thwarted if a gal wants to play mind games and indicate that "shes not easy".
zz, if/ when women want to settle down, they can only do so by avoiding game playing guys and when there are none around, by playing a few games of their own
it works because "a guy pursuing a woman" will show flashes of honesty once in a while, or preferably all the time, and will persevere despite games, a playa will freak out at a woman who is as 'taize' (is that ur word for it) as him, ie. can play the odd game as well as him, and run
it's about 'catch and release', ask yb :P
and i agree... men start the games, we have to keep up with fishing games, or find a better man
zz, your entire statement here is utter b****x :
"its a known fact.. that women are the ones who give/send out the most mixed signals. For me, thats equal to playing games. Male emotions are comparatively simple. Women plan their weddings since puberty ... lord knows what complex chain of events and neuron bondings take place in their head when they are being courted by a guy"
please go to the library and get a book about women, or talk to one to get clarification..
ps supercomputers can predict the weather.. really! is anyone bothering to read the results.. or are they MEN who are too busy self-loving to look beyond themselves for even a minute
I dont agree - guys love attention, and nothings more appealing to a guy than an "easy woman" (provided that hes into her, physically or otherwise)..its just the male instinct of wanting to spread their seed around
all guys look for women .. some might look for a one day-stand, while others might be thinking long term...but i dont think any guy will turn down a girl (whos interested in ) handed to him on a platter .. its the girls who like to play games and make guys beg and work for it..
also, thats actually one of the dating no-no's for a guy pursuing a woman .. and it holds true more for guys than for gals.
The worst "game" that men play that gives out the worst type of mixed signals is the following: If a girl shows "too much interest" right in the beginning, without knowing the guy for that long, the guy literally gets "scared off" and loses interest. That is pretty messed up, and doesn't particularly make sense to me. I would be flattered if a guy was really into me...even in the beginning stages. Of course, if he was calling me 5 times a day, constantly, for no reason, I would get creeped out.......
