I never really considered myself as tall...

I recently met a girl at a friend's party and (as most of us were Naseebers there ;)) she said to me 'Oo you should join the TallPeople village'... I said 'But I'm not even that tall, and I'm wearing heels' to which she replied 'Are you at least 5'7'?' to which I replied 'yes' to which she triumphantly exclaimed 'well, you can join then'!

I thought she was joking until I just came across this village! hahaha So happy to be here and that I'm not in the short and dumpy village (it wouldn't surprise me if there was one you know ;)

I never really considered myself as tall but it's just occured to me, I do have a lot of very small friends lol

(pic shows two friends who were wearing high heels and me, in flats :P )

lol......I have to wear mens jeans because I can never find womens jeans that fit me just right everywhere....especially length wise.

Shergaweeya: Foxglove said "Exactly - a wider range of clothes suit us too e.g. skinny jeans"

Hmmmmm........its funny because the whole idea of being 'different' is what appeals to me the most about being tall. I get that same comment all the time, "whats the weather like up there" and I always tell them....."the air is much fresher up here"..and depending on who it is, I"ll also add in, "and I can see your dandruff from up here too", LOL! Kheir people always like using me to help them reach high up places......but I don't mind cuz I love the fact I don't need a step stool. Either way....thats awesome you grew out of your complex. I truly believe one should NEVER have a complex about things that are out of their control because it can always be worse. I mean, what would you rather be, a person who has a beautiful height of 5'7'' or be one of those people who are midgets and stand less than 4 feet tall?! I remember I always used to complain about my hair because its is so massive and thick and curly until I started noticing that there are plenty of women out there who have thinning hair and you can even see their scalp, since then I LOVE my big hair. True that that we always wish to have what we don't want, but we should learn NOT to think like that, as MUSLIMS especially, because that is a sign of being ungrateful to your Creator. OK........sorry, I always eventually turn everything into something serious :P

ppl always tell me "ayah your so lucky your tall" and i always wished i was shorter. subhanallah you always want what you dont have. but i remember having a complex when i lived in the united arab emirates, no joke i was the tallest PERSON in the school. almost everyone had jokes to say about me, not in a mean way, but the teachers would say things like "hey ayah whats the weather like up there?" or "ayah come do something useful with your height and help me hang this up" bas alhamdulilah my complex went away when i moved to the states five years ago. ppl here are seriously bigger than middle eastners.

Bostongirl.......you seriously had a complex being 5'7''!?!....if thats the case, imagine how your 2 friends felt :( haha..... honestly....its great being tall don't you think. I mean sure, as a desi you might stick out but really nothing to have a complex about because I"m sure most girls are wishing they were as tall as you.
