oh I know! lol I just love asking this question from the young female teachers who you know were totally baby crazy until working with them for a year or two as a teacher or classroom aid... usually they're like 'oh helll no !' or ' UH uhhh MY kids are gonna be sooooo different! you'll see!! ' lol

I know my future kids'll be at least half as crazy and hyper as me and together we'll have the wifey (or at least both grandma's & grandpa's) in an asylum by the time they're in preschool lol & as soon as they're walking and talking I'm putting the little monkies to work! Their first responsibilty will be to learn how to take care of MY toys, dust em clean em, do laundry, wash the dishes... clean up my clutter. take notes, dictation, answer the phone and read my stories & writings back to me! Yeah I'm totally looking forward to it! lol

Dealing with school age children is always a big challenge especially those kids who think they can get away with anything if they throw a temper tantrum but this still doesn't turn me away from having children of my own.

Those kids in my class who throw a temper tantrum don't know of any other way to deal with the situation because their parents give in to those tamtrums when they are at home which makes the child think if they want or need something just throw a tantrum and I'll get what I want.

Inshallah, I will not be one of those parents and try to be a reasonable parent with boundaries that my parents set for myself. Also, i have been wanting children of my own forever so now I'm just waiitng for the right guy to come into my life...he hee :)

hehe, I really love working with children yet at times I did say "I do not want kids!!" but I really think they are a blessing and I still would like to have children of my own. I do wonder though how good of a teacher I will be for my own kids :-

Peace

It's always different when they're your own....

And 30 kids together act totally differently than a kids does on his own....

So because its a challenge - that should deter us? Yeah dealing with 25 - 30 10 years olds isn't easy - however its a very different situation in having your own child. First of all they are just one (or two, or possibly three) of a certain age and you have a very different relationship with them. There is a different bond of love and interdependance than with a student.

Working in a daycare one summer and changing 7 - 8 diapers every two hours didn't put me off from having a toddler. Frankly it prepared me better in ways. I've learnt that I can outlast a two year old having a tantrum!!!

I look forward to many years as a teacher and to a lifetime as a mother.
