I can see the logic in your stance but Life consumes life to survive. Absolute values are VERY HARD to achieve, because even plants feel 'pain' when you eat them. That's why they release chemicals in responce to being chewed between our teeth. Yet, no one sees vegetarians as bad people.---------------------------- ----------------------------------- ------I'm not a Jainist but I don't kill spiders or flies or take the legs of Daddy long legs. Yes, I eat chicken and lamb and fish and sea food and that's my meat requirements because I need my proteins and Iron. I am a human, I am a man. I am the hunting gender of the species. I am also a life form which needs to consume life to survive. I cannot eat rocks.----------------------------- ----------------------------------- - What I propose is a compromise where the animal is not killed/beaten/slaughtered for my pleasure or to improve my looks but to keep me alive. However, the animal should be killed as humanely as possible (although there is no human way to kill a beast). Umer M.
You're right. The reason why I mentioned Naomi was because she had initially gone for the 'ban fur campaigns' but later on turned around. I was a little cheesed off at Naomi's hypocricy. She did what she did not because it was the wrong thing to wear fur but because it was fashionable. Her action may have diluted the message and taken the 'oomph factor' away from the subject. You gotta have principles.------------------------ ----------------------------------- --------To be honest, I wouldn't even mind rabbit fur if there was a genuine need for it but there's a difference between slaughtering a rabbit, dismembering it, eating and using it's fur for clothes and smacking the sh!t out of Bugs left right and centre and stripping off its skin while it's still twitching for a carrot.
