Indian Silicon Valley Battle
Bangalore is battling it out with Hyderabad to become the Silicon Valley of India.
This is pretty cool for me since I was born and raised in Bangalore, India but my family is from Hyderabad, India and I had lived in Hyderabad a few months before moving to Toronto, Canada.
What do I end up doing in Toronto, Canada? Working in IT! Leaving future Silicon Valleys to work in IT in Canada! I think this is quite ironic!
Whenever there is outsourcing talk about jobs going to India, I smile and say I am happy to be outsourced back to India!
Bangalore was a retirement city for government officals when I was born. It is known for its clean environment and beautiful scenery.
The IT craze has transformed Bangalore into India's Silicon Valley and Hyderabad is now trying to cash in on this.
Majority of people in Silicon Valley are Indian to begin with especially the owners of startup companies.
While in Bangalore my sister got to meet and sit in the lap of Indira Ghandi as an child. My dad met an former Indian prime minister while he was a rising star in government.
My parent's good friend was the daughter of the Indian Minister of Transportation, so they go to meet and hob nob with government officials while in Bangalore and stayed as guest of the minister of transportation.
All you other Bangalorians and their friends feel free to share your stories about life in Bangalore as I have done. =)
