Is Hijaab important to you?

Is wearing the hijaab important to you? Can you be a good muslimah and not wear it? What would make you wear it or not wear it? Please explain your reason for answering yes or no. I would also be interested in the guys opinion as well (well except for the last question :P )

Peace

I love hijab and really respect hijabis.

There are loads of reasons for why women wear hijab and I think that if you believe in it then go for it.

There are also many women who dont wear it but still believe in the values of the hijab and live by them. So I totally respect them too. It just depends on what the persons like.

Freak_of_nature

Yes, Malaysia is the 'Orient' or better worded as South East Asia. As India is even considered nowadays as "Asian" instead of the older used Sub-continent.

Yes it is an interesting theory and there is some very compelling evidence so far. Unfortunately, most of the hard evidence was long destroyed by China after the expeditions and the author had to "fill in the blanks" in a few areas. But all in all a good theory and well hypothesized.

The website is... www.1421.tv and I was just there in Singapore for the exhibit. Their mission was to unite the world in Confucian harmony. Read the book or get the DVD from PBS, they are both well done.

Just when I was leaving china, they did a series on him on CCTV 9, his name was Zheng He. I was so mad I missed that show. They honored him the entire week.

haha, I don't think so, it's more like south east. but I think china is as far east as it gets unless Japan is considered the furthest. And yes Afaq, when I spoke to some sisters there, they told us all kinds of stories about the injustices and not just that, many young muslims are not educated in the deen because of the cultural revolution where all religions were banned. Islam was and isn't the only religion that has been oppressed. But with it opening it's borders, they are forced to become more open and tolerant. But the people of china are really nice and love to meet new people from different parts of the world.

Everybody is going to china, even big time american companies because china is on it's way up and there is nothing america can do to stop it. It's become the "place of opportunity" now. I taught there for three years and that is deffinately the place to be, business-wise

Peace

grrrr fon i totally udnerstand, thanks aftab :)

the thing is fon, Isreal wont get away with it for long.
*holding back this surge of emotions, grrrr*

Isreal is not a success, and it is only surviving through A LOT of aid in every sense from america. It is not a land of much resources, and they didnt get the part of arab with much oil.

As soon as China (i call it daddy china) takes over, and america runs with its tail tucked between its legs, then we will see what happens to Isreal.

sooner or later, Allah swt will surve justice.

Masha Allah, you should be a historian :P I'd take your class:D and freak of nature, I agree with you as well, I disagree with women being "forced" to cover. I personally don't like when people look down and critize women for not wearing hijab instead of trying to give positive encouragement to wearing hijab. Islam was sent down in stages. It was ten to thirteen years before laws and commandments were sent down including hijab. The same with some of our sisters, I think some are just not ready and need help getting to that point of readiness. but there is some method to that madness, if some kind of pressure is not placed on society as a whole (not just women) then there would be so much more fitnah in the world, especially the muslim world.
