Is it too much to ask?

I wonder if it is too much to ask to be inspired by your mate. I recently had a discussion about this and in a fog of pseudo-intellectualism I told my friend that I would want to be inspired by the mere presence of my wife. Not just a friend, a love, but also a muse. I was severely admonished. Apparently that is too much to put on my potential mate. What about it ladies? Any out there willing to shoulder this burden?

I believe Stephen Hawkings is married. So, he is inspiring someone, somehow. (Good for him, by the way.)

ah but with the student/teacher thing, only the student benefits...what's in it for the teacher? i agree with choco, being the teacher all the time can get old.....

i would love to be inspired by my partner and have been fortunate to have had that in the past... but what i find hard is when only 1 person is inspiring... kind of like that perpetual teacher/student syndrome... gets kind of tiring after a while...

is it a question of inspiration, or really motivation?
