It's true. I was there in Jiddah with my family when that happend, and we saw the entire coverage.

It is not "my" translation, but that of many scholars and various authors. The words used are "... istimta'tum bihii minhunna..." Istimta'tum is the verb form of the word Mut'ah. The verse refers to not just "marriage" as many mistranslate it to be, but to any lawful form of marriage, muta'a included. As for English translations, try Message of the Qur'an by Muhammad Asad or The Majestic Qur'an by the Arabic Translation Committee.

there is no mention of temporary marriage in any of these translations of surah 4:24 ... by Shakir, Yusuf Ali or Pickthall.. yours is a mistranslation..

This is not an easy subject. Many practices of both Sunni and Shi'a are based on culture, politics and hadiths not actual facts. There is evidence that a copy of the Quran that Ali had did differ in respects to the other copies in extant at the time.

Shia's at the Kaaba...this happens, more than is made public, by both sunnis and shias. You get problems no matter where you are, the Kaaba included.

As for Mut'a, it is explicitly allowed in the Quran and is never disallowed. Only in later hadith, not Quran, was it disallowed. So, with that, I agree. Mut'a is allowed in the Quran, so it is allowed, that simple.

As for Hafiz, well take it or leave it. It is not necessary as usually performs no function. Rote memorization does not equate to understanding.

The shia's do, as well as sunnis, transgress from the Quran into the oral traditions and politics and lose sight of the actual message that Muhammad (SWT) brought via Gabriel. This is very sad.

If you want to seriously research this, or any other, subject, please use several sources and try to avoid any site that is pushing an opinion instead of giving facts and letting you decide. This site seems to use decent sources, and I am checking them out and cross referencing them to others.
