Islamic poem

I sail to you in the ocean of my dreams

To a far away distant place

Of great beauty and tranquility

Where pain and suffering do not exist,

Where we give praise for our joy and happiness,

Where our love intertwines with a love for all things

O beloved keeper of my heart

The companion of my soul

You have reached out and touched the essence of my being

And shown me the way to a higher plane

Your love has awakened me from my years of slumber

A beckoning call to the spiritual world

Where my body is mist in the mountains

This is where my heart belongs

This is where my soul lives...

Waliakum As Salam.
Sorry Caarabguy, (*I think, I owe an explanation*)??it was UL audit times here in India?& being a SEPG person too,? it was demanding quite time : )

Reg Raksha bandhan: I couldn?t have explained this clear, as wcg did :) Thankyou Wcg : ).
Yep, I have 2 rakhi bros (non-muslims)? they don?t have a sis & I?m? their proud sister!. : )

Caarabguy, it?s basically? I feel,??we usually tend to take relationships for granted, especially family ( parents- I see around me r the most abused 1s & at times the realization is too late?) & this is just a timely re-assurance of bro-sis love in the form of a Hindu ritual.

*********************************** *********

Sitting alone on a windswept mountain,
The thoughts that come to me are wordless
Filling me with nothing but gladness
For, as long as You remember me,
I am not truly alone.
In my darkest hour,
Tinged with fragile bitterness,
I find You in Your infinite Grace and Mercy -
A part of You in the center of my whirlwind soul
And I find the path again.

This is the way I must go -
The road that is Empty of the extra things that serve
To trample the heart and imprison the mind.
Will I ever truly know that wealth is nothing
And fashion is but fickleness
Of the world below?

Not til now did I discover
That everything is You, the rain and night...
So I keep them close to me
To have a reason, a light.
I want to have the inspiration
In that call to prayer,
A lonely voice calling without
Pretense of airs -
"God is great, God is great..."

If only I had ninety-nine mountains
To carve Your Names upon
And if only I had the voice to call with...

Sura, I used to write poetry in my childhood and throughout school and college years. Though I don't write anymore I still love poetry so much and collect poems by reading poetry books. This last one I posted was sent to me by a fellow naseeber who is into poetry as well :)

It's a festival that marks the relationship between a brother and sister....
he vows to protect her from all harm(raksha), at all costs.
she ties a special bracelet (rakhi) on her brother's hand as a symbol of her affections and blessings to protect him from the evils of the world.
It's such a beautiful means of expressing one of the most sacred relationships in life

Sura, here is one especially for you. Hope you like it :)

Salutation to the Dawn
Look to this day!
For it is life, the very life of life,
In its brief course
Lie all the verities and realities of your existence:
The bliss of growth
The glory of action
The splendor of beauty,
For yesterday is but a dream
And tomorrow only a vision,
But today well lived makes every yesterday
a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day!
Such is the salutation of the dawn.
