It sucks to be an O's fan
I mean it really blows.
Two years ago, after 6 straight losing seasons, the Orioles aquired Miguel Tejada and Javy Lopez. I can't tell you how excited I was about that even though I felt that pitching should have been our #1 priority. But I thought, hey, maybe this is just the beginning and the O's will soon aquire the pitching they need to finally leap over the hated Yanks, Sox and Blue Jays.
I should have known better.
In those two years the Orioles have done nothing, NOTHING except reaquired Rafeal Palmeiro(BRILLIANT MOVE!) and traded for Sammy Sosa (almost as brilliant).
You cannot imagine what it's like to see a team you have loved for almost your entire life just sit on the sidelines while the redsox and others vastly improve their teams through clever trades and judicious signings. This year, The Sox traded for yet another ace(Josh Beckett) while also shoring up their relief and outfield. And what have the O's done? signed a catcher, ramon hernandez, even though they already have an all-star catcher in Javy Lopez. Brilliant move, Flannigan. While I agree that signing a catcher will help our offense and take some of the Catching responsibility off of Javy's shoulder, they signed Hernandez for over 7 million dollars a year! The move looks even worse when you consider the fact that the Braves just traded their all-star catcher, Johnny Estrada, to the D-backs for two middle relief prospects and he only makes $460,000.
ARRRGGHHHHHH.
Oh, and what have the O's done about their pitching needs?
Glad you asked. In the last two years. three #1 pitchers have been traded (Hudson, Mulder and Beckett) all for prospects that the O's had in abundance and yet the O's never got involved. So the answer to your question is nothing. The O's have done nothing to shore up their #1 weakness while the Jays and the Sox both aquired aces. Brilliant. Bloody Brilliant.
God bless the Orioles.

Unbelievable
Even the Nationals, a team without an owner, are making better trades thant the Orioles.
It's true, I'm a A's fan, but I like baseball so I enjoy learning about other teams. I try not to be bias.
Have a great day! If you are ever on MSN, my id is [email protected].
Go A's! (A)
It's downright scary to meet someone who knows that much about the O's and yet you're an A's fan.
How sickeningly appropriate
Look at the Yankees; they have 2 players (A. Rod/Jeter) on Forbes top 10 highest paid athletes. The Yankees record is 15-11, behind the Red Sox.
