There is nothing more to add. I just got back into town and I'm sure you all were wondering why I haven't thrown my 2 cents in so to avoid being banished from the village, I thought I'd just say this instead. For the record, it's time for him to go!!! He couldn't help Koren Robinson stay out of trouble so how much more can he do for Lelie that Rod Smith can't do? And not for nothing, he is at best, #4 on that squad.

samir...but the problem is that while in oakland, he still thought of himself as a #1 receiver and arguably hindered the development of porter...the broncos aren't a team that's super young...a guy like rod smith, who's also one of the class guys and strong leaders in the NFL, can provide that leadership and help their younger recievers, leslie, johnson, etc, develop. I really think he could offer more as a receivers coach than as a player...but hell, i'm not jerry rice...he might just bust out with a couple 100 yd games and win a playoff game for them...lol

I dont see anything wrong with Rice going to the Broncos, he is old and warn out but he is bringing a lot of experiance in which the younger wideouts will appreciate, i mean who wouldnt want Rice as their teamate....if he complains about playing tmie and whines like that, then i dont think he has room to say anything since he has lost a few hundred steps from his glory days..but getting the greatest reciever of all time for the league minimum is a deal, i'd take a chance with him rather then finding the potential in a later round/undrafted rookie..

By staying to longer... like you said he ranks #1 in all the major WR categories. It's great that he wants to play, but he expects to be the go to guy... which sadly hes not...and its time for him to move on. Maybe become a coach. He's got a lot to offer these young guys.

As awesome as he is it seems like he is desperate to play...I mean cut by the Seahawks to fight for maybe a starting positions with the Broncos...he should retire on top with some dignity...I mean aren't the Broncos a runnin team anyways...if he starts whose to say they'll use em...

Hurt Rice's legacy? How? He is the greatest WR - you look at every major statistic in the book and he owns it. Funkadelic - I agree Seattle's WR can't catch a case of HIV from a hooker much less a football.

jerry is probably still good for the odd game where he shines but I don't think he's going to help a team that much...he still demands the ball and I think he kind of hurts the development of younger players...similar to the effect that jordan had in his last 1-2 years in washington. However, I really miss having a guy like him dominate...the wr position has become full of prima donnas like to, plaxico, moss, chad johnson, etc. There are few guys like ward, harrison, etc who just go out there and play.

fo sho...he's a non-factor. but teams are signing him obviously for his leadership and advice for their young WR's. i think seattle shoulda kept him though; robinson and jackson are extremely talented, but smoke too much dank before games (hence all those EASY passes dropped). rice coulda been a good example for them two. from what i hear, his work ethic has not changed a bit, even at this age.

Do you think this hurts Rice's legacy?

Rice should have retired two years ago. But, he has earned the right to go out on his own terms.

he deserves a shot; its not like he's guaranteed a spot anywayz as mike shanahan informed him before the signing. he got a one year deal. not sure what the figures are. but if someone of his calibre and stature wants to keep it going, he shouldn't be denied the opportunity. plus, him and smith could tutor lelie and watts; two young and very promising receivers (esp. lelie).

F Jerry Rice....hang up the spurs...ur tarnishing your own reputation by having to Tryout....its time for him to let some young up and comers get a chance....this is just selfish and ego driven.....what is he possibly accomplishing except for making his records a little harder to break...

Rice should be able to do whatever he wants as long as a team is willing to take a chance on him. He is the ALLTIME greatest WR in NFL history. He will play behind Smith, Lelie, and Watts and will obviously drop some knowledge on the new kids Lelie and Watts. If I were Denver, I do not know if I would have spend that money on something else. How much did Jerry Rice get paid - I know it was the league minimum - how much is that?
