Jewels of the Nizams
The book the ? Jewels of the Nizam? by Krishna R Bala Krishnan is a book worth having in ones collection if you are proud of the Hyderbadi heritage.
It is a first ever study and the documentation of jewels that belonged to the rulers who were once reputed as the richest men in the world.
Once part of the Nizam?s state regalia the ornaments date from the early 18th century and the early 20th century, the Indian government acquired these treasures in 1995.
Finely crafted from gold and silver, highlighted with exquisite enameling, the jewels are set with Colombian emeralds, diamonds from the Golconda mines, Burmese rubies and spinels and pearls from Basra and India.
Only a fraction of the legendry wealth of the Asaf Jah dynasty remains.
?Jewels of the Nizam? documents this unique collection of jewels that give credence to legends and fading memories of a fabulously wealthy dynasty that ruled the Deccan for seven generations.
