Celebrations today for Moled Al-Nabawi :)
Pic # 5; Muslims spent the day rebuilding an old Masjed dated back to the 1325! Impressive even though they have very little resources in thier African country Mali.

Atabbara,
Muslims have the right to react to insult but we can only pray and wish that we can learn from the prophet how he could have reacted. This doesn't at all allow "biased non-Muslims to do what they do"!

Mr. Baroud's point is valid still. Muslims have used their collective energy in fighting a small Danish country while leaving behind many more important issues.

Interesting comment at the mosque this week. Someone noted that Salman Rushdie was this nobody author until Muslims overreacted to his book. Now he's a much sought celebrity whose considered an "authority" by many. The speaker said "Muslims were the best thing that ever happened to Rushdie. We made him rich, famous, and powerful. Without Muslims, he and his book would have remained obscure."

The same applies to this situation---by reacting with violence instead of intelligent, well-organized protest, we have created huge surges in the purchase of any newspaper that prints the cartoons (people want to know what the fuss is about or show that they agree with the editors), done further damage to our credibility, and not really done a damned thing for ourselves. The pre-protest boycott of Danish products was already demonstrating far more understanding and economic impact than the violence has.

Opinion:
Punishing Denmark: Taking on the Wrong Enemy
By Ramzy Baroud
" am afraid that the Muslim and Arab-led anti- Danish campaign will widen a chasm separating both worlds, bolstering the Arabs' reputation of being intolerant while providing an unimportant cartoonist with the opportunity of a lifetime: a chance for martyrdom on behalf of freedom of the press and perhaps a book deal, and if lucky, a spot on the Oprah Winfrey show. But that's all that one should expect.

Prophet Mohamed is revered because of his daily-felt contribution to Muslim life everywhere. He needs not a Danish cartoonist to validate or nullify his relevance in the lives of millions. Of that Muslims are to be sure. However, it is discouraging that the collective energy of the Muslim world is consumed punishing a small European country over a drawing, while US military bases infest the heart of the Arab world, and American fast food restaurants crowd every street corner, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Arabian Gulf, while few seem to notice or even care."

don't sell the israeli's short, they're good at what they do.

Intifadah 2 coincided with the Saudi initiative's peace proposal.
The 10 year ceasefire offer by hammas occured a week before they opened that f.cking tunnel under Harm Al Shareef.

they plan.

Well this is a slap on the face for Israel:
The link from the Guardian in case you guys didn't hear:

Denmark P.M. should solve it and say the SORRY word for angry Muslims, especially after Bush demands yesterday that we stop the violence and protect foreign diplomats in our countries. What kind of a message is Bush giving about Muslims now!

Real reason for what happened in Denmark !

Norway was leading a Campaign to boycott Israeli products early in the last few month, and early in January it was going very well and spreading to Scandinavia, Then the Israelis thru their connections
created this diversion for the Muslims / Arabs as they know their emotional state of mind and we see the effects

The Funny and the Irony of the story is that they turned it into a Norway and Denmark boycott by Muslims !!!

If you want a proof go to Google and search for norway boycott

I had a co-worker from Holland that stopped talking to me after the dutch director got killed by the muslim immigrant back in Holland. Actually the guy was honest and he did not hide his racisim and dislike to whoever consider inferior.
I think all people in the world inferior complex though muslims included

Funny thing is, if you go Vatican City and visit the museum and Sistene Chappel, there are clear examples of the supremacy of Muslims to Christians in Europe for hundreds of years. The collection of the first globes are all written in arabic. Michaelangelo depicted "Moors" in the SC as being of higher social status than Europeans within the same frame.

A friend once said to me that if you really want to hide something, put it in a book or a museum. If you want to show it, put it on tv or radio---goes to show the power of ignorance.

Atabbara: Not offended at all. I enjoy debating and can usually differentiate it from arguing :) Work has gotten a bit hectic, so I may not be able to respond but your points were interesting (though I don't entirely agree, as you probably expected :))

not mentioning that in their dark ages was the muslim golden ages. I see a lot of bitterness on their parts.

When my parents travelled to Europe they saw it a lot....

One example, in France, one lady asked my father if he needed any help in a clothing store. He liked a suit and said he wants to buy it (told her in English of course) but neded to get money, needless to say she spoke to him in English. He came back next day to buy the suit, same girl was there, when he called for her, she said "pas d'anglais"....

My father was like "Incredible, overnight she forgot her english..."
