Kashmiri Earthquake
The BBC have reported the epicentre of the quake to be in Pakistan controlled Kashmir.
I have not visited this village for a while.... I just wanna say I lost an uncle in the quake in Muzaffarabad.. My family like many others have been through alot. I spoke to my cuz after they found uncles body and she said daddy was sitting down with hands over his head trying to save himself, and he had the Quran by his side. Uncle must have been reciting the Quran as he did every morning. May Allah grant him and all the others that have lost their life, with Jannah - Ameen. For those that are left behind to live this nightmare, may Allah give us SABR and unite us to help the victims- AMEEN
If anyone wants to send money, my friends are leaving on sunday. They w'll buy food and other supplies and provide to the victims themselves. They w'll be operating in Bagh(one of the most affecte area) area.
You could contact me here on naseeb or my cell# I have posted on one of my comments alreaady.
If you have trusting issues I can't help.
People have trusting issues. Keeping charity money is beyond inhuman.I have friends who lost their loved ones and few people leaving for kashmir these days . we are collecting moneyand we are getting great response.
I just thougt of makin an effort to get naseebers participate. Don't get me wrong most of you probably doing much more than that.
Just participate in any charity which you could trust.
theybest way to give money to help people, any one who is going to Kashmir. give it to him. and tell him to give there to someone poor. that is best gift u can give to kashmiri people. i talked to my friend who is in kashmir he told me Pakistani people put so much money togather but still in kashmir people even didnt get a bottle of water.
i gave my money same way to my friend and he gave to some person there, who lost almost everyone and he was sitting with his 12 years old dugther inder open sky, and he lost his house. so he got that money.
so please help people like that, now i found out this sunday some more kashmiri going from Brooklyn. so try to find out about this people.
Iceprince - if you come across anyone collecting donations - could you make inquiry if the collection is being made to a registered charity - it's important that the money reached those who it is intended for.
Iftar dinner is more like it. Most of the people doing this around the city and raising good amount of money..
I know there conflicting remarks about giving donations to who?. But we did't raise it yet... Let's take our first step and then the next....
Ias4a2, yeah it would be good to sit and chat properly. I will be making the effort to come down for Eid - it'll be good to catch up with you:)
I was going to come down and get registered charity boxes for an official Kashmiri charity that dad is involved with organised for Saturday evening as well as giving a hand with it all. I'm going to have to go back up to be with my family this coming weekend.
Numan - I understand what you are saying BUT I posted it to show an effort being made. It's Ramadan, we need to remember what good should come about this month. I can't sit here and judge how these groups work and I wouldn't promote a group that I know will not do anything. I know the people that work in this group and have seen their progress with projects they pick up. I thought maybe this would be inspiration to others. So I'm sorry that you may have been offended about it. No need to try to put everything down.
Inshallah let us all remember and to give our Zakat too. This is our month to make an extra effort. So ppl let's try.
I know, everyone's been so busy during summer!I wont be able to come down during Ramdan but I'll be there for the Eid gathering,Insh'Allah. How about you?It would be lovely to chat to you properly!
I hope none of your family or friends were affected in the quake...
For those who aren't comfortable providing their personal information while donating to these foundations, another alternative is to send Money orders as they aren't traceable. May Allah (swt) reward everyone for their generous hearts. ameen
i will never give one cent to Pakistani organizations. what they did in Kashmir i hope they pay for that. and giving Pervez Musharraf fund so he can keep for his family. Plz try to help Kashmiri and give them money.
DevelopPakistan.org - a group I know in Boston, In 36 hours they have raised a bit more than $30,000. They are aiming to raise another 50K. Inshallah.
This is how ADP is dispersing the amount:
ADP is collecting donations directed towards relief work via three different channels:
1. President's Earthquake Relief Fund, which is being overseen by the president of Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf,
2. Edhi Foundation , which is undeniably the most trusted NGO in Pakistan with a large operational network throughout the country, and
3. ADP's Long Term Earthquake Relief Fund, which will fund redevelopment once the immediate needs have been met.
We will be transferring funds to both external organizations frequently over the coming days to better enable them to respond to this disaster.
maybe we can do a charity iftar. does anyone have connections at any restaurants/hotels? That way the restaurant can do a tax right-off and we can charge an admittance fee to cover the food and the bulk remaining can be used to charity.
Inshallah may kashmiris get through this rough time.
