Khoota


Just wondering, why khoota (donkey) is a symbol of silliness in Punjabi :)? As a matter of fact khoota (donkey) is very hardworking and beebaa animal :)

Any thoughts?

khoota is known as a hard working animal, but its symble of stupidness.
If you have ever seen khoota and know its qualities you will know. Its hard working animal, yet very stubborn at times and its voice is annoying!

It's not just Punjabis; I don't know of any culture where a khota is considered as wise..in english we call it an 'as*'!

maybe another reason is cause donkey's are considered kinda dumb...like when my mom used to say 'khottay da sirr'.

well one of the reasons why they're referred to as a symbol of silliness is because they'll do things very randomly... start with their eeee ooon in the middle of the night and will for no reason start kicking... so I've been told.

hehehe....'gudha' is in Urdu....there is a clear difference when u pronounce 'kh' and 'ku'...but any ways....my opologies if I offend you. :)
