yup chatting in Roman Punjabi works. Cuz your have the word spelled out on the screen and you understand the pronounciation. That's how I learn most of my punjabi chatting with cousins in England and Pakistan. As far as parents go they freak out when I speak punjabi. They want me to speak the official language, which is aight.

thats a good idea..

i would love to watch punjabi tv channels but i dont have any here in usa... i mean geo and ary doesnt show that many punjabi programs..

as far as talking to friends are concern then yeah i talk to most of my friends over the phone and as much as they want to speak punjabi, its just too hard for me to pick it up... kahir chatting is a good idea...

hey punjabi songs help.. eh but not the indian punjabi songs.. their dialect is competely different.. listen to some pakistani punjabi songs and try to understand each line.. and then sing the song.. as u remember these songs.. u'll catch on to the punjabi.. i mean thats how i learned.. the little that i do know.. it helps.. now i can usually understand punjabi songs..

Well there are two ways to learn. Either you watch Punjabi TV channels or you chat with someone who knowns punjabi really well. Both are proven methods.

the olny way to do it is to speak it......even if you think that its all comeing out wrong...just keep doing it....trust me ppl will correct you if you say something wrong...if you master the bad words first it becomes a bit easy....just kidding.

well, out of many dialects, there are 2 very promenant ones and you have to pick one to learn.
the first one is the pujabi spoken in punjab pakistan wheras the other is in pujab india. Eventhough, they say its punjabi, but the vocabulary changes radically, so now would be the time to choose :)
