Learnt a new word
I recently learnt a new word in Urdu (or at least that what I think!) that I should have known but never knew. The word is "Bahraha meharbani" (hope I spelt it right).
I heard it on a PIA flight to Pakistan. It mean Please (or at least I think it means please). I think its quite a sweet way of saying please, and just makes me realise how sweet the Urdu language is. Its similar to the way the french say sil vous plais.
How many of you knew it meant please? How many of you used to say please when speaking urdu? I used to always say please because I never knew how to say please in urdu! :-)

Ranjish means misunderstanding, enmity etc.
Taqraar means argument
2) adaavat = prejudice
3) ikhtilaaf = argument (bahas), fight, misunderstanding....koi aik pakka word pata hai kisi ko is ke liye?????

yeah khnaja i just noticed that too.....last night after abba amma went to bed, since i am still on my lousy sleeping routine....mujhe neend nahi ayee, i came here to see whats going on....aur yahan to bilkul sannaaatay wali khamoshi thi......man.....it sucked!!!! jaago logon jaago :)
Btw, FYI, I think itminan is "calm/content".. not patience... as in "itni itminaan se baythe the ke zalzala bhi na hila ya hoga!"
beginner's leve ke hain...jo ke roz marra (everyday) ki zaindagi mai istamaal (use) kiye jaa sakte hain...
1) shuba/shaq = doubt
2) masroof = busy
3) itminaan/sabr = patience
if these are too easy, let me know..... plus if i am wrong, then correct me please! or if there is another meaning for a word, woh bhi batiayeh ga! shukriya, i hope this helps someone out there!

you know what the funny thing is.....i had this talk with my cousin in pakistan. we all speak hindko there....aur mai hindko mai bhi please kehti thi.....so i asked them, hindko mai please ke liye kya word hai and then urdu mai kiya hai. well stupid me and my cousin, both knew this word, bara-e-maharbani, but just could not think of it at that point. aur hindko mai we realized, we dont have a word for please, atleast, we dont know, still!!!! i think its our tone that lets the person know that we are making a request and are trying to say please in hindko. interesting haan! thori si awaz mai lay daal daitay hain aur agla samajh jata hai ke request ho rahi hai kisi cheese ki. mmmmmmmmmmm interesting!!!!!!! so that means not every language has a word for every english word we use......right :) mmmmmmmmmm
