I was in Lebanon twice lately. I was profoundly decieved by the way society and politics are going. The people aren't able to turn the page on Hariri's death. As if the destiny of this nation relied on the shoulders of this great man. His son doesn't seem to have a fraction of Hariri's charisma, energy and sense of initiative. I mean, as if you killed people's new prophet, and now they are in the dark. The politicians seem to have exploited the situation to their advantage maximally, and the civilians are afraid and don't consume or invest as much as they did when Hariri was alive... I mean, life goes on!!! Turn the page and carry on with life! Advance!He should serve as an example and people should find in him inspiration to build and advance, and not for further futile protestations and empty talks that lead nowhere. I was amazed by the emptiness of the libraries and how I didn't see ONE person reading a book in a coffeeshop or anywhere. All people read are newspapers, but mostly they just sit, smoke and watch people pass by. Time isn't important, and people watch it pass by as if they had plenty of it. They like to blame all their problems on the west, yet they try to copy the west... and the only things they manage to copy are the superficialities, the fashion, tabbagism, SUV, excess, etc. They don't copy the true strong values of the west which are: hardwork, research & knowledge.
