this is just another tool, not a replacement for lawyers. i see no reason why this would affect lawyers or the field of law in a way that would jeopardize jobs. that's like saying DNA testing would put a lot of legal professionals out of work. these are tools. there is no substitute for a critical thinker in the courtroom.

i wish johnny cochran was still alive. the guy was a genius!

What does this article have to do with the legal profession as a whole? A person lying in court is one small aspect of all the things a lawyer can do - much of which doesn't include trials.

I just want to correct this information. Today I read in the National Law Journal that enrollment in law schools is dropping and the legal profession is remaining strong.

Pertaining to anon's comment.. i don't know the exact numbers but I'm willing to bet that a large fraction of legal cases do not revolve around whether either party is lying.. rather its about how to intrepret and analyze their actions.

Anon, this is a good article, but you should have titled this post something other than "Legal profession about to go out of Business", unless you're just trying to get a kick out of people in which case you did a good job.

seriously... reducing the practice of law to comparison with an MRI...i mean...cmon, law is about analysis and drawing parallels
saying its as simplified as truth or lies, is like saying ice cream can only be chocolate OR vanilla.

haha .. brotha you crack me up.

salaam everybody. first of all, don't mind anon; he's an instigator, proly taking a break from studying or something and trying to get a laugh from responses to this nonsense ; ).

you know, let's go there for a minute. let's say these machines get accepted for whatever they're good for. that leaves intact about 98% of the legal community. of course, whenever these machines malfunction (as machines always do), we'd have to sue the people who built these machines for everything they've got ; ).

be scared, you doctors, be scared ; ). we're gonna get you!

excuse me and astaghfirullah for saying this, but i just can't resist: i love to see docs with their pannies in a bunch, reacting to their anger at the legal profession for making them feel powerless.

Aasma, I haven't gone to law school, butI have helped people with classes here and there. Doesn't seem that hard. I think I'd go with the MRI.

Nadeem - when you go to law school for 3 years and get your degree, maybe you'll understand what the hell really goes on and why lawyers do what they do .... In the meantime, why don't you go spend more time with the dumbasses who make the stupid decisions of guilt/innocence or ridiculous monetary awards...I mean the jury - YOUR peers.
